I am surprised by the price difference- RCCL

Here are quotes we received for RCCL and Carnival for this spring from COSTCO. Quotes came in late October / early November timeframe.

It's not the gambling that makes the price difference, because not everyone gambles away the cost of their cruise (if DCL is almost twice as much for non-Florida-Resident bookings).

(Note both selected Stateroom, and GTY) - 2, 3, 4 is number of passengers per stateroom.

Can anyone tell me if 4 fit into a cabin on RCCL? It looked like there was only 1 queen size (or 2 twins if they are split) per room. We are a family of 4, and I was looking into RCCL, but I am nervous since I don't know much about them.

Thanks!
DJ

RCCL has many cabins that sleep 4, you just have to check the layout of the ship there is a symbol for those that sleep 4.

The layout is different than DCL. We had an outside stateroom on the Explorer of the seas, Cat. H. The Bed's fold down from the ceiling over the queen bed, so your kids would be sleeping above you.

we had our 3 boys in one cabin, and they kept the main beds as twins and then a bunk came down over one of them (could have been both if we had needed it).

some of the cabins have a fold out couch instead where the 3rd and 4th passengers sleep together, you would have to check with a travel agent or RCCL to see which ones do that.

Gambling revenues do affect the price of the other cruises, plus in general close to 1/3 of the passengers on most Disney sailings are kids, who can't purchase alcohol. Ultimately though Disney charges what they do based on the fact they only have two ships, so overhead can't be spread over a larger fleet and they sail full or close to it almost every time, so they don't need to offer discounts or cheaper prices.

I was happy to find out that RCCL had several rooms that would fit a family of six. We are going on the Mariner in October, staying in one of the "family oceanview staterooms" and we are paying $3250 for all six of us! :flower:

I've had a little "disposable income" and decided at 39 years old I deserved a "toy car" so I compared Corvetts and camaros. Ya, the camaros were nice, but there was no compariso to the corvette I purchased.......sorry I like to talk in stories.....We've been on 4 DCL sailings and I'm sure all other cruise line are addequate but, I don't mind spending a little more to be completely satisfied.....see to me a faamily cruise IS like buying a "toy". They are expensive and you most likely use "disposable" income for the trip you get what you pay for IMHO.....I've book 2 morre DCL sailings........
