Yes you can,
What we chose to do was apply the Gift Card to our room account and then charge to our room, using our KTTW card. But you can do what you ask.

Excellent. I will just get several thousand in giftcards for our stay and plan to pay for dinners that way. I dont like room charging because people tend to shop that way as well and we have a lot of people in our party on this trip.

Just to corroborate, Yes, you can still use gift cards to pay for meals you're using TIW for. The charged 18% tip will go on the gift card as well. The gift card works just like you were charging the meal on a credit card.
