...what?

I know I have posted about how excited I am about our upcoming romantic get away to PBH. DH will flip when he sees the upgrade I am sure. But...I have been over to PBH on prior trips and I have found it a bit overwhelming and difficult to figure out.

So, can any of you PBH experts give me a feel for the place and tell me about the things I don't want to miss seeing or doing? I would sure hate to get home and find out after the fact that we missed something really neat. Thanks.

I've never stayed here but I would recommend not missing Mama Dellas for delicious, authentic Italian food. We ate here last summer on recommendation from this board and it did not disappoint. Can't wait to eat here again this summer!

Lets see...I would have a stroll around the villa pool and take in all the beautiful white roses that line the path. Maybe rent a cabana one day at this same pool. Play a game of bocce ball with the hubby, (LOTS OF FUN!) This is also in the same area as the villa pool.

Take the time to walk the grounds, they are just gorgeous.
I have said this lots of times before in lots of posts but its worth mentioning again cause its a stand out in my memory as romantic! In the evening at dusk (or later) get a drink or a cappucino and walk around the Piazza near the water. Its so peaceful and with all the lights so beautiful. Take some pictures with (on) the vespas that line the piazza.

Get a marshmallow milkshake at Trattoria del Porto or you can order one from room service...so yummy!

Get a fresh filled cannoli from the Gelateria. Try a pannini from Sal's.

Make sure you check out the shops, they have some great merchandise and items I have not seen anywhere else. The womans clothing shop (name escapes me) when they have a sale is terrific! I have a few nice items from there that make me smile when I wear them.:)

Go down the slide at the Beach Pool, its soooo much fun and addicting.

Take pictures pulling in to Portofino at night by boat...so beautiful all lit up.

There is a hot tub at the villa pool (as well as 2 at the beach pool) that you can enjoy late at night! Very relaxing and soothing.

For a special experience get a his and hers "well being" massage at the mandara spa.

If I think of any more, I will let ya know! Ahhh this is MY favorite resort of all... ::yes::

Another romantic spot is the hillside pool at sunset. Most of the time you will be alone. The hillside pool is on the end of the east wing which is really the south wing.
If ya'll get to missing your boy there is a basketball hoop on the north side of the beach pool. :goodvibes

Thanks for the sugestions. I had forgotten about those marshmellow shakes you and Spidey typed so fondly about, JR. The hot tub idea sounds like a good one too. We will have to check out the hillside pool. It sounds like it will be worth it, even if we luck out and are in the West Wing.

Jess has really hit all my favorites-bay lit up at night is going to fill you with awe, beach pool slide (a first for many of us) was such great fun I did it ten more times. Although, not as romantic as Mama Della's atmoshere, my hubby loved Trattoria Del Porto for the all you can eat pasta and dessert buffet. Doesn't the spa also do an in room bath with music, oils, rose petals? It may be worth looking into if it appeals to you. I'll be there soon and can answer any questions you have. I had to get my password so I could sign on. I couldn't remember it last year and Motherfletcher reminded me when he posted. ;)

Bump!

Anything else from your recent visitors? I am excited to learn that Musica Della Notte has been extended and will be there when we are. Can someone give me a review of that? Thanks

Any more suggestions? I'm leaving for the airport in 53 hours! :cool1:

Not to my knowledge. It was a nice addition to the ambiance of the resort, but not worth planning an evening around. When we were there the performer was up on a balcony above the area where Trattoria del Porto is. People sat in seats out on the piazza. I think we went over to the Gelateria for cannolis one evening and ate them while listening.
