We have finally realized that with 3 kids, we really do need a 2 bedroom suite. Is there any way I can get a suite on Disney property for under $130 a night? If so, how and where?

We will be staying May 14-22 and my husband and I will be celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary while there.

Is there anyone who can point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance.

I would love to know if it's possible! We have four children and there is no way we'd all be comfortable in a hotel for more than one nite so we rent a private home when we hit Orlando.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you would be lucky to get one room at a Moderate for that price, let alone a suite. Your cheapest bet ONSITE would probably be two rooms at a value, hopefully a code will come out for that time frame, but I am going to guess it will still be over $130.00 a night for the two rooms.

If you considered offsite properties, you would probably have a chance of getting what you want at that price however. Hope you find something that will work out for you.

I don't know of any way to get a suite onsite that cheap. Offsite, however, you can get a nice two bedroom condo for $260 or less for the week through Skyauction.

We got 2 rooms at pop with AAA discount for 141.00 per night total. I can't imagine you getting it much cheaper unless you buy an AP?

I don't think you'll find a suite that cheap. At best you may be able to score 2 value resort rooms during value season.

I would suggest you look into booking a condo or possibly pool home. You should be able to easily find something under that price range. Try sites like www.vrbo.com or www.orlandovillas.com . Also, check www.hotelkingdom.com as it has great deals on condos/suites all the time.

$130 is pretty low for onsite during regular season. Rack rate for one Value Resort room will run $99 + tax (11.5% to 13%). Your best hope would be an AP discount that runs around 40% off rack rate. I'm not sure that they've run that low in the past year. You can post on the resorts board and someone with an AP can check the passholder's website to see what kind of pricing comes up for your dates.

You'll get more room and better rates offsite. It's probably not what you want to hear. But if privacy from the kids is important to you, you'll either have to pay a bundle for it onsite or move the clan offsite. Sorry.

Hi,

I don't know how old your kids are but we went when ours were 2, 4 & 10. We stayed offsite (Jersey week, early Nov.) so not top peak time and it was great. We had a 2 b + loft timeshare & it was so nice to have all the bedrooms plus multiple TVs for relaxing at night.

We have since stayed onsite & I really don't think we missed out by staying offsite the first time. The amount of space we had the first time more than made up for having to drive to the parks. IMO, the drive was short & parking was easy. Folding the stroller for the parking shuttle was no worse than folding it for the resort bus. I just don't enjoy staying dark & quiet while waiting for the kids to settle down at night & felt more like home to have separate spaces to go plus a kitchen. Long way to say - don't be afraid to stay offsite despite all the magic onsite.

Have fun planning!! It is overwhelming at first but the more you research, the easier it becomes & it's great to finally get there & see *most* of your research fall into place!

DVC Points would be the cheapest way to go. Go over to the DVC Rent and Trade board and see whats available. You should at least be able to rent at Saratoga Springs or Old Key West. Good luck

I know how you feel! When we had kid #3 we realized a regular hotel room wasn't going to work anymore. That is when we decided DVC was for us. I agree with the advice of renting DVC points. We did it before we became members and it was wonderful having the extra space (and washer/dryer). Good luck!

I'm surprised no one suggested at Fort Wilderness cabin. Not a 2 bedroom, but still two sleeping areas at night so you can spread out a bit. I think that's as close as you'll come budget-wise on site. We considered the cabins for our family of 5, too, but since we're taking the grandparents as well, we knew we wouldn't all fit, and opted for two rooms at POR. It'll cost us just under $300 a night during value season for those two rooms, and that's the best I could do on site at a moderate (we wanted a package, so no AP codes, etc).

I looked seriously into renting DVC points, but we're staying over a weekend, and I didn't want to split my stay, so that made it too expensive. If you're not staying over a weekend, I would look into DVC points.

I also looked seriously at staying off-site (the prices and extra room is VERY tempting) but truly a big part of our vacation is the resort experience, and I didn't want to be out of the beautiful Disney setting at all. We've stayed with our children in connecting standard rooms in other resorts (non-Disney vacations) and had no trouble with nighttime tv watching, etc.

Plus, I decided on on-site because my kids are young and I wanted to take afternoon breaks from the parks. I know if I was off-site, I'd force my tired family to stay against their will! :rotfl:

OR, you could try 2 tents at FW campground...only kidding a little, cuz with all the money I spent on a 2BR villa during holiday season, camping is the only way I'll be doing disney again for the next 10 years!

No suite's for under $130 - although Dixie Landings (yes, yes - I know, Port Orleans Riverside) does have trundlebeds in some of their rooms within theAlligator Bayou. You can request such while making the reservation.

Thanks so much for your help, everyone. My family has debated the offsite/onsite issue for DAYS now, and onsite wins. The evening magic hours in the parks is the one thing we don't want to give up.

That being said, I think I solved my own problem. Two value rooms, provided the Fla. resident rate will be about $65, will cost us around $130 a night, and that will work just fine for us.

Thanks again!

You're so lucky to have a FL resident travelilng with you, that is as good as (or better) than the AP discount!

All Ears reports that some Value resort rooms are likely to be coverted to suites. Sorry, but it doesn't seem to be in time for your trip. Something tells me they won't go for $130, either. Here's a link: http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/g_asuites.htm
WOW! This is the first I have heard about this- how cool! I hope it is for real and I hope they are ready for our next trip- (hopefully about 2 years from now.)

Great rate- I think you all made a good choice!

I'm sorry, I guess I missed the part where you said you are a Florida resident. I envy some of those deals.

I have to agree with the others: Disney hotels have relatively few suites, and they command top dollar. You have no chance of getting a suite for under $130.

The closest thing would be a cabin in Fort Wilderness, which you might get for close to $130.

Have these cabins gone down? Last time we stayed there in 1999, they were well over $300 a night. I'd try to rent DVC points and if that is too high, maybe knock off a few days or try off-site. I know it'd be hard to stay off site but you could stay longer and in your price range. Good Luck!
