I just got off the phone with my boss who is at the WDW as I am typing this. She told me that when she made her reservations she said that she was an AP holder. This is her first time at WDW and she does not have an AP. When she checked in they did not ask to see her pass. Is this possible? Do the cast members not check to see if you have an AP. My boss was very pround of her self for getting the WL for $84 a night (I believe this is what she said). I was so mad when she told me. Is what she did really possible or am I mad over nothing and she really paid what someone without an AP would pay. Please tell me so I don't explode. I never really like my boss that much to begin with, if this is true I have lost all respect for her.

I have been lucky enough to get a good AP rate almost every year. It helps if you go in the off season and call for the rate asap after they are announced. I have always been asked to present my AP at check in to verify that I am eligible. This was at many different resorts, deluxe and moderate as well as the Dolphin.

I guess your boss was "lucky" that the CM neglected to ask her for the pass. Perhaps she used a code available to everyone and mistakenly thinks its an AP rate - <g>.

A friend our ours checked in on an AP rate with the voucher for an AP from TDS and the CM charged her "rack rate". After she went to the park the first day and activated her AP she returnd to the front desk and the CM changed her rate back to the AP rate. This was in early December at ASMu.

I think if your boss is dishonest then that is her problem, what goes around comes around. Just be happy knowing what kind of a person you are and don't sweat her dishonesty.

I agree. What goes around comes around. Ann Landers says it best, "Time wounds all heels". Love that one.

Just be glad that you can live with yourself, and that you are an honest person.

Just got back from ASMu last week and had 2 rooms booked w/ AP's and did not get asked for our passes.
I had actually stopped by the DS at the airport because someone posted you could get your vouchers activated at the store and still beat your luggage out. FALSE! At least not at Flights of Fancy. We had 6 vouchers between us and never were asked. As a matter of fact they did not ask for ours last year as ASMu either. Had 'em both times. Oh well!

I have never had to verify any room rate by showing an AP or DC card. Although mine were all legit.

Two of my family members went to WDW at separate times. One stayed at AKL 2 years ago and the other at ALL Stars 6 months ago and they booked their rooms under an AP rate. They were both asked to show their AP's at check in.

At the CR in Summer 2001 we did not have to show ours. It just depends on the CM. I would never take the risk of not having one and trying to slip through the system.

I have never been asked to show mine either. I always have my voucher out along with my driver's license. I also believe what goes around comes around and if you are dishonest it usually turns around and bites you in the butt.

I have never been asked to show my ap ever at any of the wdw hotels. But I make a point after they do not ask to "whip" it out and show it! When I stayed at the Swan they did ask for a copy of my RN licence and kept it on file for the RN rate! So if staying at S/D be prepared they want there paper work! MKY:)

First of all, the AP rate does not get you $84 a night, try $109.

Unfortunately the world is full of dishonest people. Heck, I don't like it when people book a room at an AP rate, knowing that they never intend to buy the AP, but just wait for a regular code to come out and then change to that.

I don't remember seeing any $84 AP rates at WL.

?? I think that most people get upset to some degree when they see others breaking rules and getting rewarded for it. It is frustrating. Her reaction is certainly normal, but like others are saying, you just have to try to not let it bother you too much, and I am a firm believer that what goes around comes around.

How did she break a rule? Wasn't it the CM that broke the rule? She had to buy passes anyway, it's not like she's getting in the parks for free. There are a lot of people who have NOT been asked for their AP at check in, are they all dishonest? If so, why?

I think she is just trying to get you upset, and it seems to have worked. She could not have gotten WL at 84 a night, no matter what. Impossible. None of the codes on any of the sites give that kind of rate, I have been watching carefully.

I have another question. If you check in with AP and then go to passes and don't use AP, is that not put into the computer system? When the final billing comes about would it not show up that you did something dishonest?

So if you're doing 90 on the Interstate and a cop fails to pull you over then you aren't breaking any rules?

We've used APs to get discounts twice. The first time I showed them without being asked at the start of the check-in process, and the second time (at WL, btw) no one asked to see them. Dittos for my wife's letter from her Principal when we got the teacher's rate at the Dolphin. Likewise, I've almost never been asked to show my AAA card at ANY hotel where I've gotten the AAA rate. While cheating the system can pay off at times, the risk of getting busted doesn't make it worth it.

I have been asked to show my AP at checkin at CSR.

I booked at an AP rate and then luckily the reg codes came out and i changed to that- although i had every intention of buying an AP if the reg codes didn't come out in time-

i believe that most people who book with AP rate do so with the intention of buying an AP if they can't get the reg code NOT with the intention of trying to defraud anyone- we are just trying to hold our rooms

Well, If you feel as if you're going to explode over this I'd say the real issue is something other than your boss not being asked for the AP. That being said I'm not usually asked for my AAA either. Being honest myself I don't try to fool the system however it is up to Disney to verify this info. It's not worth it for this to ruin your day.
