I am so happy I could whistle while at work. they would look at me like i am crazy but i just paid off the last of my trip for july. I made a promise to my husband right before he passed away that i would take my kids to disney. it took me almost 3 years but i did it. i will be me dd, ddbf (his first trip). I am so excited, happy and every other word. most importantly, i want this trip to be a happy one, nothing sad. one question, would you do something in memory of dad who loved disney, or would you just enjoy the trip and silently remember?

Sherrycurl: I nearly cried reading this. A little sadness, even while at the Happiest Place on Earth, is okay. I think you should definitely do something to honor your husband's memory ... maybe one of those bricks at EPCOT?

As an emotional and family oriented person, I would say choose an event (be it a fireworks cruise, or something else) that you would do each time you visit as a remembrance of your husband/their father. My prayers and best wishes are with you!

My husband passed away 3 years ago at the ASMo. I said I would never ever wanted to stay there again even though that was our favorite resort. Well... the whole Disney was booked, so we ended up at the ASMo. Of course we stayed at a different bldg, just to avoid the section where he died. But anyways... we ended up visiting outside the room. I wrote a nice note and tied it on the blue balloon (blue was his favorite color), we said our prayers, we kissed the balloon good bye and said... "This is for you Daddy!" "We love you and miss you!"' That was sad.

And so... I felt weired staying at the ASMo again. And I dreamt about him. He woke up from his death. I think he was trying to reach out for me and letting me know that he is right there with me and the children. I got a little scared at first, but I knew everything will be alright.

Our tradition is.. wether it be birthday or whatever holiday it is, if we have balloons, we kiss the blue one and then we let it go.

I am very sorry about your husband. {{{{HUGZ}}}} Whatever you do, enjoy and be merry. I am sure your husband would want you to enjoy your trip. You don't have to do anything big for your husband. Congratulations on your trip and it is O.K. to be happy and sad at the same time! When my Dad passed away we had a trip already planned to WDW to see the Christmas decorations in early December, well my dad never liked crowds and never took my Mom to WDW and she loves everything Disney, so I suprised her with getting her off of work, connecting room with ours and all the tickets to go with us on the trip!!! She said WDW is where she starting sleeping and eatting again after her loss! That was "priceless" to me!!! She has since visited WDW again with us and LOVES it as much as I do!!!

this made me cry. I am sorry for your loss, but what a touching way to remember a lost loved one.

I do something similar to this. On my fathers Birthday, Fathersday and on the day he died, I send off a dolphin baloon (he was in the navy) into the heavens, with a note card attatched to it's string. That way, if someone finds it, they will know that this baloon was for a man that I miss so much.

I lost both my mom and dad. Daddy recently passed this December.

They both loved Disney, especially my mom.

My husband and I wanted to get a memorial brick in front of the Magic Kingdom but Disney is not selling them.

We asked at EPCOT Leave a Legacy what we could do. They suggested getting two markers. They cost around $35 a piece One being a photo of my husband and I with our names and date. And one as a "memorial" marker with the names of my parents. They would put them next to one another. We thought that was a great idea. Therefore, they will always "be at Disney".

My prayers and pixie dust to you. I am so glad you and your family are going. I am hoping many magical moments happen.

Sherry perhaps you could do something special during one of your meals. You could spend the time talking about Dad's favorites and maybe watch wishes in his honor. Huge hugs to you both. You are strong strong women

My heart goes out to everyone who has lost a loved one. My dad passed 7 years ago this June and although it has gotten a little easier one little thing will trigger a memory, Its really hard for me because after my mom passes(15 months after my dad) she was also cremated(I dont mean to be morosse) and my sister who was executor has both of their ashes. We do not keep in touch and she will not return phone calls. We have no where to grieve. I often think how much my dad would have enjoyed Disney World so a brick at Epcot just might be what the doctor ordered! Lots of pixie dust to all Mimimom

you don't need a place to greive, your sister and you may be estranged, but you still have your mom with you in your heart. Think of a special thing regarding your mom, and use that as your grief item. For me, if my mom were to pass, it would be a rosebush... Her favorite plant.

And condolensces to both you and disneybrat0318, you both deserve to have a great time, and I totally agree with all the other posters who said it is ok to be happy and sad at WDW since it has such a special place in your hearts. My father passed away in February after a two month battle with pneumonia. He was in ICU thru Christmas and New Year's then passed away two days before Valentine's Day.

My kids (ages 3 and 5) have had a tough time with their PawPaw's death since my parents live close to us and the kids have spent the night with them about once a week since they were babies. I think the brick at Epcot idea is a way to remember a loved one and something we will definitely do this October.

I think all of the suggestions here are good ones. When my mother became very ill, I had to postpone our trip to the world, but took the trip once she was placed in a nursing home and we could go with peace of mind. Every trip we take, I feel as though we are honoring her somewhat, since I was raised going to DL every year. I think it's a good idea to treat your family to this time to be together, and find that I feel better during the trip, especially since I find that people are generally so kind to each other in WDW. It's a place to celebrate life and those we love and those who have passed, but who are still watching over us!

Another DISer recently lost her father before their trip to WDW. In his honor, she had a GOH badge made with his name on it and she wore while at WDW.
