I purchased a new sweater on Saturday and, as I always do with anything new, washed it before wearing it to get the "new smell" out of it. I washed according to the directions - in cold water and it was not a hand wash item. I took it out of the dryer this morning and....THE RED BLED INTO THE WHITE!!!!

Is there anything I can do or should I just try to take it back? I don't have many clothes and so when I purchase something it is always exciting and I like to wear it as soon as possible (I don't get the opportunity to purchase many clothes either). It just never fails - whenever something gets ruined - it's always my clothing!!!! (another example but this did wash out - after washing and drying all the dark clothes this weekend, as they were being taken out of the dryer a lipstick was found amongst the clothes and you got it.....mostly all over my clothes - I was NOT happy with dd!!!!!!!!)

Since it was just purchased a few days ago, I would return it with an explanation. Hope it works out for you! I doubt you can do anything else since it was dried.

I think I would return it also. I did that for the 1st time a couple of months ago with an outfit I bought for DS2. He wore it once and it looked terrible when it came out of the wash. I was a little nerveous taking it back because I didn't know what the store was going to say. Anyway, there was absolutely no question and they willingly gave me the money back. Everything is so expensive now it just doesn't make sense to keep it and never wear it because of the way it looks.

Absolutely take it back. If you have the receipt, you should be able to take it back with no questions asked.

Chris, take it back. I have found that just about any store will take it back as long as you have the receipt. I doubt you will have a problem, especially since you just bought it a day ago.

Thanks. That's what I thought too but I didn't know if there was some "home remedy" that might be able to help get the color out.....UGH! Thanks

Chris, you might try Oxy Clean with the clothes that got ruined by the lipstick. I have found that stuff to work miracles.

Thanks snoops...I was able to just use Shout rub in stuff and let it sit overnight and it came out - but it was every single pair of my pants and a new dark turtleneck I had gotten after Christmas....let me tell you - BE HAPPY YOU HAVE BOYS!!!! :D

Chris, good luck taking it back (I know all too well about getting something and wanting to wear it right away).

I have found Oxyclean to be very helpful with nasty stains, but I now buy the Costco version. Comes in a large tub and is cheaper. I actually kept the smaller Oxyclean container and decant the Costo version into it for easier use.

Definitely take it back with the receipt. They should give you no problem.

Just a tip.....Stain Stick gets out lipstick stains from washable clothing. I found this out the hard way, of course!!
