I went to my ortho to get a cortisone shot in my wrist - this will be my third - he gives it to me and I stand up to leave and almost pass out. He ushers me back to the chair and holds up smelling salts. OMG! I am mortified! That has never happened to me before...Maybe its because I watched him give me the injection? OMG!

Nothing to be embarrassed about.. DD's DH is terrified of needles - and I do mean terrified! He needs blood work done on a regular basis - every 3 months or so - and if he even glances towards the needle, he's down for the count.. Here at the house if you even mention "needle" he goes as white as a ghost and looks like he's going to get sick to his stomach..

The same thing happend to me after my second cortisone injection. I felt find during the injection, but as the doctor was moving my wrist around afterward I got really nauseaus and lightheaded. Needless to say, after that whenever I was going to get a cortisone injection I did so lying down.

No need to be embarassed...believe me, they see it all the time.

Oh dear. I get one on the 8th for the first time. I hope this doesn't happen to me.

That's exactly it...we were chatting up a storm as he was giving me the shot and as soon as I stood up, WHAM!

I passed out at the podiatrist while he was working on my toe (toenail needed to be cut out after my son stepped and twisted on it....very painful). I don't handle pain very well and he was numbing my foot and out I went. I woke up with an oxygen mask on and I was laying flat in the chair. Since I drove myself, they wouldn't let me leave for about 30 minutes to make sure I was ok. I was mortified but I am sure it happens all the time!

People get woozy and pass out all the time. It's unique for you, but not for them. For them, it is just a normal part of the work day. Absolutely nothing to worry about. :)

I had some dental work done. They took an impression of my teeth and some of the cement gooey stuff went down my throat. I threw up and was totally embarrassed. THEN, I was out at the front desk paying the bill and remember nothing from there. When I woke up, I was in the dentist chair with everyone around me. They were laughing and saying "I guess the bill was too high". I was mortified too, but they were all so pleasant and made me feel ok about it. I am such a baby!:sad2:

Don't feel embarrassed for having a very human reaction. The fact that he ad smelling salts means it has happened to him before.

At least, you didn't fart as you were passing out, where he would have wanted to drop you instead of holding you up. :snooty: :rotfl:
