I am elated that Obama was elected President. Yet, that elation is tempered with the sadness over the fact that although our countrty has come a long way, several laws still passed that essentially legalized and legitimized discrimination.

I am sad that people are being banned from marrying the ones they love.

I am sad that many children in Arkansas will suffer due to legislation that bans loving couples from welcoming these children into their homes and hearts.

I am sad, because I thought our great nation had come further than this.

I can only hope that with dedication and hard work, soon these laws will be a thing of the past.

I live in IL and we didn't have anything on the ballot, but I am still going to start looking into what I can do to help the cause. I just wanted you guys to know that many, many straight people are outraged and on your side, and personally, I am going to see what I can do about it.

YOOOOOHOOOOOO! Cool Straight Person Here!!!

Thank you. Sincerely. I mean that.

Thank you for being a CSP. I appreciate your efforts.

I am very disheartened by these steps backwards. I am just tired. I am tired of being told over and over again by my government that my relationship, my attempt to pursuit happiness, well, it just isn't worthy of the legal protections that marriage offers. I am tired of being told that while all men are created equal, that I am not to expect that to apply to me, because of who I love. I am tired of being forced into second class citizenship because even though our country has a separation of church and state, it doesn't seem to apply when the issues of the gay and lesbian community come up.

I am tired. I feel alone. I feel abandoned. I feel betrayed.

Basically, the whole thing just sucks and I am over it.
