Hi!

I am so confused - on the quote page (not request a quote, what people actually priced out) - some references seem to indicate pricing with OBB - how are people doing this? They are on board now or they are switching a previously booked cruise to those ones? What is the window again - we sailed Feb 2015 and we are going again Feb 2016. The April 2017 one would be beyond our OBB timing (within 24 months?) and I don't want to lose OBB for my upcoming cruise.

Thanks for your help. You can count this as your stupid question for the day!!!

Yes, people are moving previously made onboard bookings. For you it definitely makes sense to use your OBB for that February 2016 cruise just as you have planned. And make a new booking now for April 2017. When you are on the ship in February, you can see if you can book the April 2017 cruise for a cheaper price then. Prices often go up, so it might not make sense to rebook onboard for that cruise. You will need to see how prices are in February. The way it is done is that you make a new booking onboard and cancel the old one.

In case the prices have gone up so much that a new booking would be pricier than your original booking, you can still get a placeholder (or book another cruise of course) and then when for example the February 2018 cruises come out, you can then book one of those with the placeholder and therefore get the OBB discount applied to a newly released itinerary.

Hope this helps!!

They are switching a previously booked OBB placeholder reservation to an actual reservation. You can do this as long as your "sail-by" date is within two years of when the OBB placeholder was booked.

If you already have booked a Feb 2016 cruise using your OBB discount from Feb 2015, you can't book another cruise with OBB now, but you can once you are on board the Feb 2016 cruise.

I believe that you can book the April 2017 cruise now without the OBB discount, then switch it to OBB later. You can do this as long as you are outside of the cancellation window. Also, it's actually a cancellation and rebooking, so you would pay the rate in place at that later date. You'd have to compare the current price to the later price with OBB discount at that time to see it it's worth it. I've never done this before, but am considering doing the same thing. Can anyone else confirm that I have this right?

Can you get the same stateroom # if you do this?

Can you get the same stateroom # if you do this?

It depends. If your booking category is still available, the CM should be able to cancel your original reservation and then grab that stateroom immediately. I use a travel agent and she has always been able to do that. With a TA you cannot cancel your original reservation yourself while on the ship, so she cancelled later and then got me the room that I wanted.

If your category is booked out, then that would not work. The same if your category is still available, but has gone into "GTY" meaning that room numbers are no longer assigned.
