My first day of college is tomorrow, and I am like freakingggg out. Whenever I have to do something new, I get crazy anxious. All of these bizarre thoughts & fears are running through my head.

-My hair is a mess for some reason. It's all weird and frizzy.
-I cannot decide what to wear.
-I don't know what bag to carry, that will fit all my books.
-I just got my eyebrows waxed and I broke out all over my forehead, which is strange because I rarely break out.
-Last time I was at the campus I couldn't find the doors to my buildings.
-I don't know where I should park.
-I'm pretty much convinced I won't be able to find my classrooms.
-My Sociology class is in the lecture hall, but according to the schedules there is another class scheduled at the same time in the Lhall. So, what's going on with that?
-I don't know how early I should arrive.

My mind is going to explode.

Jenny stay calm and relax
I'm sure you will do fine
I would probally arrive maybe 30min- 1hour early
I'm not much use since I'm just a freshman in highschool but just be your self and you will do fine :)

Yeah its WAY different then Highschool. No expectations or anything. You just go in being yourself and im sure tons of people will be flocking around you. college is cool because nobody really gives a damn weather you look absolutly perfect, or you bag doesnt match. They are there for the same reason as you. To go, get an education, make a few friends along the way and enjoy the college life!! so dont sweat it, everything is cool.

It'll be ok! Trust me!

Get there early and make sure your class is correct.
After that, if there's time, try and find your classes. And since it's the first day, your professors will most likely dismiss class early. The first day is basically pointless, it's basically like high school in the sense that they introduce themselves, talk about the class for 20 minutes, and let you go.

You'll be fine. Don't worry. Calm down. It'll be great!! =)

girls wear sweatpants and pajamas to class a lot. so don't worry about looking perfect. no one really cares. show up early and know where you're going ahead of time. something i learned in band that applies to real life here, "five minutes early is on time. on time is five minutes late"

and don't forget to breathe. so many freshman forget to do that.

Obviously I'm not in my right mind because I know a lot of people who just crawl out of bed and go to class...in their pajamas. But still, it's an intsinct for me to want to look perfect for my first day of something.

I'm really stressing out about the whole lecture hall thing. I have no idea what is going on with that.

I think it's all the 'unknown' that I'm freaking out about. I don't know what to expect.

Thanks guys, you're always helpful. :)

I totally know that feeling. But it'll go well!
And if not, it's only one day. :goodvibes

It will be ok! College is different but a good different. You won't be judged because college has EVERYONE. So many different people. Be yourself, take a deep breath, you will be all right. I opened up a lot more in college because there are so many different opinions and beliefs. I was so nervous my first day but once I got through my first class I was fine. You'll do great!

ETA: Don't worry about the lecture hall. If you're confused, just ask someone tomorrow where you're supposed to go. It could be that there are two different rooms...it could be anything. I'm the biggest worrier and anxious person in the world so I understand about being so scared about something like that but it will be ok. Just stay calm. If you ask when you're confused you'll be fine and you'll figure it out. Is it the first day of the semester/quarter? If so, most professors are really lenient and don't care if anyone is late. You won't be the only one, especially in a lecture hall sized class.

Relax, everything is going to be fine.

I think you may have had an allergic reaction to the wax, or maybe you break out when you're stressed. (One of my friends gets mad crazy hives whenever she starts stressing.)

Like everyone's saying, it'll all turn out fine.

Hope you have a good day today Jenny! good luck!

don't worry too much, people are generally friendly and it's easy to make conversation with people around you if you have any questions.
make sure you do ask questions if you have any! haha

and yeah, don't worry about how you look at all!
i'm sitting on campus right now it sweats, uggs & a sweatershirt (with hair that looks like it hasnt been brushed lol) and i'm not the only one who looks like that :P

First day of college is REALLY scary, I remember I was scared to death, but after a week or so you get used to the routine and it's a bit easier to relax and (sort of) enjoy going to school.

Ooooh, calm down Jenny.

I know I'm over-reacting, but that still doesn't ease my mind, haha. I'm 99.9% sure I will come home today laughing at how freaked out I was. That's what always happens.

But still, for now I'm super stressed.

I think I'll go like an hour early and scope out all my classrooms, that way I won't be frantically looking for them when I only have 10 minutes between classes.

Okay, I'm about to leave. My stomach is twisting and turning like crazy.

Ahhhhh, okay. Bye, thanks you guys!

Good Luck Jenny, i'm sure eveything will be fine though!
Let us know how you get on, yeah?

Youll be fine. Its only natural to feel as you are....youll get on fine and make loads of cool new friends:thumbsup2
I was exactly the same as you before i started but you will totally enjoy it. Have fun and let us all know how you get on

I wish I would of seen this earlier...so I could encourage you Jenny. Btw Hi...haven't talked to ya in a while. :) What I always did before my classes each semester was go find the room the classes were in. I'd have to go over there to buy books or something anyways so I'd just take my time and poke around to find the rooms that way there would be no suprises on the first day of class. I would recommend doing that in the future if there are a bunch of different buildings and also to arrive about a half hour early because parking can be a pain in the butt...also this ensures that no matter what happens you will still be on time. Don't worry about how you look...when I was in college sometimes I'd roll out of bed and go to class if it was a early class. There are plenty of people that just throw on sweats and come to class...no one will judge you and if they do then they are wasting their time and money because they are there for learning and not to judge someone else. You'll be just fine...I made it through with hardly any issues and graduated almost two years ago! Have a good semester or quarter whatever they are called where you are attending! :thumbsup2

I hope your day went well (or is going well, if you aren't done yet) Jenny!!!

Thanks guys so much,

Anyway, my day went fantabulous, of course.

Lecture Hall - It was actually a double class! The teachers are going to take turns teaching. actually enjoyed having so many people in the class.

Hair/Skin - I didn't even remember all of my hair problems and such once I got to the campus.

Bag - Some people carry backpacks, some messengers, some totes, etcetc.

I also found all of my classrooms fine, although there is a lot of construction going on so that was a bit confusing as they had some doors blocked.

Everyone was 100% correct. College is soooooo so diverse. There are people of every shape, color, age, personality, and intelligence level. I didn't really see any huge groups either, it was just a lot of people kinda doing there own thing.

All of my teachers are fantastic and also very different.

Vernon - She reminds me of a lot of my elementary teachers.
Watts - I can't tell he's going to be fun. He started off my (sociology) class by saying that 'All the 'straight laced' people should just drop out now. There will be a LOT of debating in this class, and even some things said that people will find offensive. This is life, not everything is perfect.'

Kthinji - This is only his second semester of teaching and he's only been in America for 6 years. (World Civilizations to 1500). He was born and raised in Kenya and he speaks 7 different languages. He spent the entire hour telling stories about growing up there. Then we had a discussion about Africa in it's entirety (government, languages, religions, customs, etc.) I usually don't find that stuff so interesting, but I couldn't take my 'ears' off this guy.

DuVaul - She should totally be a stand up comedian, so hilarious. She made me really believe that by the end of the semester I will be confident in my writing.

Ruple - She was like really down to earth. I could relate to her. Plus there's a good chance I could get almost an 100% in her class.

The only thing I'm ticked about is this access code I have to pay 70 bucks for. Oh, and that I couldn't find a women's bathroom anywhere! I had to hold it until I could run over to the campus center.

Sorry about going on and on, but I'm just really happy that I like my classes.

Aww Jenny!

Yay! Glad it went well! College life is so much better than highschool!

Enjoy enjoy! This is a community college right?
