I have helped several friends try to get seats on SWA for several months now(the Feb/march and April watches). Today...not even a thank you..., and then another friend I previously booked said "why is my neighbor getting flights for 98 RT, leaving a week after us." I polietly said...because you are flying on a Saturday during a spring break time. I have been checking for Dings for her, but I haven't seen any.... But I have a life too...I can not be tied to this computer checking their flight information :badpc: . No one helps me (except my DIS firends...Thank You). I have saved them thousands on their trips, between codes, DDE, tickets, car rentals, Dining reservations for every princess meal known to man and the cheapest airline tickets available. Where's the love? :confused3 Thanks for the vent...I here by give my notice effective immediatly :rotfl:

That is so rude of them :earseek: Tell them to figure it out themselves next time!

Right on!

I have helped a couple of families save a ton at Disney and they have been unbeleivably thankful. I love helping and really appreciate the thank you's.

Your people need to give you some love and stop complaining about the fact that "you" couldn't save them some $$.. Tell them to do it themselves then. You were just being nice!

Have a good one.

I'll be there fromm 3/4-3/9! Just made my ADR's last week...... well, my TA did. :)

Funny thing with me is when i Try and help people with stuff I have used, people usually just dont believe it works or think its too much work to do it.

Exactly!
I've done the "Sure, I'll help you" to friends and family - but I've learned my lesson. :teeth:

So now I just say.."if you're willing to do a little legwork, you *MAY* save yourself some money. Here's a good place to start for information..."

9 times out of 10, they end up calling a "real" TA....which, thankfully, is not me! LOL! It's not my cash they're spending unnecessarily;)

Good luck on the resignation, canwegosoon:)

I've been lucky and had usually very appreciative family /friends when I help plan their WDW trips. Although there was my non-kid-friendly sister and her DH who went to WDW in May and were VERY upset that there were kids on their flight AND that there were kids at WDW :rotfl2: !! She would crap if she went at Christmas or in the summer :earseek: !! I was able to use my AP discount last summer and save a friend and her family ~ $200 on their room at PC, where I happened to be staying too (and was lucky enough to get our rooms right next to each other  !) Her DH thanked me over and over and then insisted on buying me dinner at Bongos (which was REALLY good, by the way :) ). I love the "thrill" of hunting down a bargain and love to pass on the savings. I'm sorry that the OP had to experience sour grapes.

I'm into phtography and pretty well up on things. I have a niece who will come to me for advice on what camera to buy and then gets what her husband advised her to get (he doesn't know the front from the back) On now tell her to talk to her husband.

Her kids are about ready to travel. I'm waiting for her to ask me about Disney. Yep, go ask your husband.

No good deed goes unpunished.

I feel your pain!
Friends of ours went to a TA first to book a WDW trip, without telling us. Then they called us to find out if I really could find them a better deal, since you go all the time and tell us how cheap it was. So after a few long hours, I called to tell them I could save their family of 4 $800.00 by flying down on Friday night instead of Saturday morning. (Every other detail was exactly the same.)
They said, "But where will we stay Friday night?" :confused3
I said just about anywhere you want - for less than $800.
They decided to go with the TA's plan because they really wanted to leave on Saturday morning. :rolleyes1
NEVER AGAIN.

Do What I do!

Give them a list of Websites, etc. I let them ask questions after they have done the majority of their decisions!

Let them do the work! I have enough of my own planning to do! :rotfl: :rotfl:

ITA too...another friend called "her TA" and is paying through the nose for a FEB 8-14 th vacation...could have done better...I even called her with the mousesavers discounts on the limo(large group going)...I booked her Cindy Breakfast (not her TA...and I got her the last one for her stay). etc...but this friend doesn't really need help-she is not on any budget by any means (as long as I don't get the "you could have told me how to do it cheaper or how can you afford to go 2 times this year!") :rotfl: (considering I am a SAHM and we own 3 houses)

I love helping people...and have been asked many times to come speak to groups on 2 topics(saving/managing money and WDW travel). I flatly refuse because I say " neither is difficult...it is a matter of choices, and doing your homework". Many people here on the DIS get that in a big way!!! :lovestruc
It's not hard...you just have to be willing to suck it up and do it!!! Now why can't I lose 20 lbs...oh yea...I have to suck it up and do it! (My area of weakness!) :rotfl2:

Owterbanks I wanted to respond to you (and other posters)...Thanks for the support..I know it is really hard to make the numbers work in Upatate NY (as in many other places too). We have to do our home work. Wishing you all a Disney filled New Year!!! :wizard:

I am offically in retirement(except for personal and Dis friends of course)...so that's semi-retirement!!! :cheer2:

That's a great suggestion.
ITA about own planning...Christmas WDW 2006 is on my #1 list right after Christmas this year. :cloud9:

i am sooooo with you! i planned a trip for a friend, made all the adrs (including crt!), booked/paid for a surprise wishes cruise, made tee shirts for every one of them for every day of their trip, got them a reduction on airfare w/a direct credit back (for myself i had to take ticketless travel credit), etc etc etc all the way down the line and last night she was telling me that she's getting ripped off, paying too much for her trip, saw an ad from AAA that would make it cheaper, etc... i mentioned that i had priced it w/AAA travel agent and it was no cheaper and included less (no park hopping/water park extras), etc and she still thinks she's getting ripped... oh, did i mention that my family is also traveling with them to play tourguide, paying MORE (we're getting a second room 'cause dh and i are space hogs but they'll likely send their kids to our second room for "sleepovers" w/our kids) *and yet* she's getting ripped... sigh... why?!

Gigi, hon..next time, I want you to plan our vacaton :teeth: I promise I'll be thrilled to the gills, and absolutely no ripped comments;)

...and I only want t-shirts for one day of our trip;);)

Smile, and a great big hug :grouphug: That's just sad that they don't realize what a great friend you are...upon check-in, tell them "Have a great vacation, we'll see you back at the airport!!"..and have a wonderful time with your family:)
