O.K. I need to leave STL on June 28 late afternoon and return back on July 5 (I would like late afternoon)

I need a direct flight because my daughter hates to fly and a direct flight will be much easier on her.

I can fly out of STL in the afternoon which is great but the flight homes leaves at at 10:00 a.m. (this is what I do not like) for $198. This is on AA.

If I book the later flight which leaves at 5:00 p.m. it will be around $280.00 a flight.:scared1:

My questions are:

Is $198.00 a good fare for non-stop flights and during a holiday??

Should I try to hold out to see if the later flight drops down or can I change to the later flight without a fee since it is on the same day??

Would you book now or just wait awhile??? I was hoping for a SW Ding but the flights leaving on June 28 already have a lot of fares listed as unavailable.

Any advice would be appreciated!!

$198 RT is a pretty darn good deal to MCO out of STL. AA has $158 RTs (through 5/31) available now and I haven't seen anything that low in a long time. The flights I'm checking for October are still $350+ per ticket, if you want a frame of reference, so the $280 even looks good to me right now.

I'd be hesitant about waiting too long to book your flights over a holiday weekend. It may be a while before sales through 7/5 open too and there's no guarantee that any will.

If you book now and change you almost certainly will get hit with a $100 fee, so the price would have to drop by more than $100 for it to be worth it and there's virtually no chance they will drop far enough that you wind up saving any worthwhile amount.

According to sidestep, there's a R/T on American departing on 6/28 at 6:15am. The return on 7/5 leaves at 4:10pm. R/T STL-MCO.

The only problem is the return having one stop at ORD, with a 2-hour layover.

The cost is $207.70 pp. including tax and fees.

EDIT: I just your post again, and the need to leave in late afternoon....sorry to post information not useful to you.
