I am opening Pandora's Box......Feel free to flame

I don't know these people. I have never watched their show. Yet, I hate them. I can't stand seeing their mugs all over the check-out counter at the supermarket. I get totally annoyed when I put a channel like CNN and they're on it.

You want to talk flames? Well, shoot some in my direction because here is my opinion--I don't believe in any fertility treatment that has the potential to produce more than one infant. If the good Lord intends for someone to be parents, then they will be. It's against nature's plan to have some doctor mixing things up in a test tube to create human life.

I suffered from secondary infertility. I would not go the route that Kate did and have an only child as a result. I believe in the fates that it is for good reason that I had only one child. I don't know what that reason is yet, but I have faith that one exists.

I look at the way these star-struck idiots are behaving, and that's all it takes to confirm my opinion on artificial conception. Neither of these jerks deserve eight children, and if it were let up to nature, they wouldn't even have one.

I totally agree with everyone who said that Jon only wants the show cut because he won't be part of it anymore. That was his money train also so now what? Well if I can't have it than they can't have it either. He sucks so bad, it's not even funny. He cares so much about not exploiting his children, but I remember, not so long ago, that he was planning on working on a children's clothing line for that sucky Ed Hardy brand and they were going to use the children as models. He is so full of it, I swear somebody needs to call him out on it. And darn, if you're going to stop the show, then at least leave the money that is left alone! You're going to take that too?!?! OMG. How dare you. I. CAN'T. STAND. HIM.

Kate is no better but, what if she has already seen what we are just now seeing? Which is why she was being that way with him all this time. Maybe he was always immature and she would just get tired of it. I don't know, anything is possible, but I just don't get how somebody can do and say all those things. Someone who once claimed to love you. I mean, he actually said in an interview that he loved Hailey more than he ever did Kate. Your kids are going to see that one day for goodness sake!

I'm sorry, Kate held it together a lot longer than I think I would have.

Wooo-saaaaahh.......

And how exactly are they supposed to provide food, clothing, shelter, medical care, not to mention education for their 8 children? I do think Kate is thinking about the kids. I think she is thinking about how much it has and is going to cost to raise them. Let's face it, this family needs the ca$h the show provides! A regular 9 to 5 is not going to cut it. As long as the kids don't mind, I say go for it.

There are plenty of other large families that do it. The McCaughey's seem to be managing raising their 8 children (single pregnancy plus septuplets (two of which have cerebral palsy) without a tv show.

Totally agree! Sure blame Kate, she was annoying, etc BUT it seems that she has kept the kids together longer then Jon has.

I know a family with 8 ADOPTED kids. The husband and wife found out the wife couldn't have babies so they decided to adopt. They decided it would be better to go through public adoption than private and found this precious little toddler. . .only he had a couple of older brothers. It was meant to be, they decided. Insta-family! Both sets of grandparents (who had no other grandchildren) were thrilled. One set has a bit of money and was even happy to help them out financially (so the wife could be a SAHM).

Then they met another set of sibs who were about to be broken up. And those kids, they thought, God wanted those kids to be their kids. Grandparents were turning summersaults with joy. (Their brag books were FINALLY full, and they had a wealth of grandbabies to spoil, LOL.)

The husband and wife looked around and they had 8 kids and a happy family, when they thought they'd wanted one kid to make a happy family.

(This is what happens when you leave the journey up to God, I think. You may well find yourself at the perfect destination - but it may not be the place you thought you were going to.)

So yes, they do have a bit of financial help (I think their house was a prezzie and I know good and well the wife wouldn't be able to stay home if it weren't for some family financial assistance) but they're not on TV and I think they've been in one local paper one time.

It does not take a television salary to raise 8 kids, nor a million dollar house.

Lots of people with large families raise their children without sponging off everyone else. Kate has said that society owes them and should be supporting the family because they made these fertility treatments available. She turned down oodles of donated items from her Dad's church because she didn't want old stuff, she wanted 8 cribs that matched, 8 high chairs that matched. Someone in that situation should have been grateful, not demanding and picky. Now she is addicted to the lavish lifestyle, and it's her own fault.

The McCaugheys are certainly not the poster parents of media restraint :rotfl:! If they were offered a show a few years ago they would do it in a heartbeat, I'm sure. Their mugs were all over the TV and magazines when those poor kids were born and remained on the TV until Jon and Kate edged them out. They were ALSO given diapers, food, a van, a house, scholarships for their kids, etc.

I don't watch the show very often and until recently I didn't have a dog in this fight. However, my opinion of Jon went right into the toilet when he drained the family bank account. That's the act of a spiteful, selfish, spineless girly-man. I hope the judge knocks him on his butt. Not just for Kate and the kids, but for all the women and kids whose girly-men husbands pulled the same spineless trick on them. Maybe if he is punished ... and punished GOOD ... one man will think twice about taking all the money on his way out.

The same way we provided for our 7 children - WORK! We never asked anyone for a penny, never got anything for free. Helped the older ones with college (all graduated - one in Law School), own a nice home, take Disney vacations all without the benefit of a reality show.

I think Jon has been acting like a jerk but I'll take him over Kate anyday. I find Kate to be a controlling, manipulative person who is in love with her own "celebrity: status. I think she's definitely willing to sell out her kids for the million dollar home, free trips and all the perks.

I'm not sure of your own personal story, but I assume that you had your 7 kids in multiple serial pregnancies (one or two at a time). In that case, I would say that you're comparing apples and oranges. With each pregnancy you are stretched financially a little bit more. Sure, you need to find a place for the new child but you can re-use an older child's crib or clothes or toys or bottles. Adding on one or two kids at a time, while not easy, is more do-able with a 9-5 job than having a bunch of kids all at once. When you have mega-multiples everything needs to be brought all at once. You need to buy 6 car seats all at once, a specialty stroller, 6 outfits at once, 6 of this at once and 6 of that at once. Your life and 9-5 job is slammed with expenses all at once and not stretched a little at a time.

I have never responded to any of the other threads because I didn't own a flame retardant suit. However after watching what a show with some cute kids has evolved into makes me sad. I believe Kate is a narcissist (sp?) and truly cares about only what she wants. If she were thinking of her kids she would stay off of the talk shows and out of the media spotlight. As far as Jon goes I always felt sorry for the way she treated him. There was always a nagging question as to why none of their family was ever really involved or seen. I know editing could explain this. As a previous poster stated it seems as if all friends and family eventually are out of the picture. I don't know who started what, whether Jon cheated before this all came out, whether they were both dipping into their savings, etc. I was on Jon's side at first. Now the only side I am on is that of 8 innocent children who are paying a heavy price for an egotistical mother and immature father. TLC has also played a part in this fiasco. They saw a cash cow and let this play out in public instead of pulling the plug on a show in a crash and burn spiral. JMO.

I agree with everyone who thinks Jon pulled the plug because he got kicked off the show. I think he's an immature idiot.

What would that solve? There would still be a mortgage on that house, both houses actually.

To those of you that said she should be able to provide for her kids on a 9-5 job - would YOU hire her?

I think both Jon and Kate are unemployable right now, at least with "regular jobs." The public knows them and I can't image a hospital wanting to hire Kate. The public thinks she's a witch and if I was a potential employer, I would be worried of lawsuits and complaints because of that. I can see some parents demanding for another nurse if Kate was scheduled for their kid's appointment. More trouble than what's it worth. IMO, Jon ended the show in spite and didn't think about how they were going to pay the bills. If he really wanted to end the show, he should have made sure he or Kate had a job lined up so that they would have some income before the show ends.

I'm totally Team Jon, not that I say that out loud very often... I used to watch the show when it was less about cool trips and more about how hard it was to have 8 kids.

The way she talked to him and hit him, and made fun of him, it was awful. And it got worse the more popular the show got (and the more stuff they got for having the show).

He's gotten a horrible rap in all this, and to some extent, I understand, he rebelled, just like a kid in his 20s. But if you think about it, that's where he had to stop being him and start being Kate's husband. And if you heard how awful you were all the time, like you know he has, you might rebel when freed from it, too. Sure he's gone way further than a father of 8 should go, but geez!

I'm not a fan of either of them - and haven't been for a long, long time..

However, I heard something on t.v. today about him pulling the plug on allowing the children to be filmed anymore.. If that's true - and it does come to pass - (regardless of "why" he did it), his popularity just soared to the TOP of my list..

Those kids never should have been exploited to begin with and it's about time someone got them off the air..

All I can say is thank GOD for people like these, we really need more of this kind of love around! :grouphug:

They're both wrong but cheating is unforgivable in my eyes so I just have to be Team Kate.

I will say that i too am on team Jon. I could never stand Kate and i think that all of her actions now are part of her and the networks attempt to save their money maker.

And why won't a 9 to 5 cut it, I know several families where it is cutting it. Oh yeah right, they don't have the million dollar house the expensive cars, the incredible trips the nannies, the tanning, the nails, the designer cloths. How silly of me, I forgot all of those necessary thing.

Ok, old-timers help me here. I seem to recall that when Jon and Kate first had their babies (before they were Jon and Kate), they were looking for the community to support their family. I mean, they started shopping the kids as soon as they were born. The thought of actually earning a living by means other than publicity wasn't really on the table. That said, I think they both got in over their heads. I think Kate wants the publicity as a family and Jon wants it as a 'hot guy.' :rotfl2:

Frankly, I've never watched the show, just read some of the reports in the press because they both disgust me.

I believe you are correct.

I believe that they were offered a show and did turn it down, they didn't want all the media attention. And he actually works a real job. Also most families with multiple births receive diapers and stuff like that. Kate has gone light years beyond that. And also, I think they are both pretty pathetic, not just her.

I'm not sure about the TV show one way or another, so I'll conceed that maybe they did turn one down. I do know that Kenny and Bobbi McCaughey received a LOT of help from a LOT of people. They had funds set up for their family at two banks where the kids were born and they live in a house that is nearly 5 times bigger than my own and it was GIVEN to them. Kenny's job was offered to him by a fellow church member and before that he shilled his own non-selective-reduction choices at Pro-Life speaking engagements for TWO years. Speaking engagements he would not have been offered if he did not have 7 kids at once. I would also not be surprised one bit if their church was still financially supporting them.

I'm not defending Jon and Kate for their choices. I just don't think that the McCaughey's should be held up as the gold standard of anything.
