I am now ANGRY!!!!

Here's my questions: When guests register their theme park tickets on MDE, why doesn't a pop-up appear that provides the date and time ( EST) that you will be able to book your FP's? Also, why can't Disney select an exact time that the FP+ window will open that is not linked to when the MK closes on a particular day?

Oh that's right I forgot; It's due to guest demand!:rotfl2:

:thumbsup2

Let people vent. They were up late to jump through Disney's hoops and the hoops weren't there. Not everyone got the "memo" on the window opening later. Oh wait, that's right. There was no "memo".

But at 12:35am, the poster knew they could come here and vent. Where Mesaboy's 1am post had been bumped.

I don't blame the OP for being upset. I do wonder why the strategies board was not utilized for its potential.

As far as I know, Disney doesn't advertise a specific time you'll be able to reserve, only a day. So their only promise to anyone is that you can start reserving on a certain day- not a specific time. As long as you can start reserving on the 60 DAY mark, there is no hour mark you should expect. The fact that any of us have figured out when that day may or may not start is simply one of many little insider knowledge bits you gather from being proactive about your vacation, but it's not a snafu of Disney's. And before I get told that's the problem with FP+, you have to know the secret handshake- no you don't. Just like you didn't have to know them before fp+. Nice to know? Sure. Need to know? Not so much. Just....like....always.

People read all the negative posts here about how awful FP+/MDE is. It's a disaster, vacations are destroyed, Disney doesn't care..blah, blah, blah...then the first little bump they hit, they automatically decide that must all be true and the hate they read is well earned. When if they hadn't been given that preconceived notion, they might not get so upset and rather than give up and be angry, try and figure out what's really going on.
And I don't understand why so many folks feel the need to apologize for Disney's awful system. It is incredibly NOT user friendly--the 1 am thing is certainly not the only "secret handshake" you need to try to use it effectively. On our fall trip, we couldn't get A&E at all in a 5 day trip--wasn't up at midnight (on a non "1 am" day), and all gone by 5:30 am. (And as much as I hear people not want to do rope drop because they're on vacation, why in the world would they set up a system to make you get up at midnight instead?? I have a job--that's how I get money to pay for vacation.). Never were able to make a 4th because kiosk lines were insane and why in the world wouldn't the system just allow a 4th electronically anyway?? So, really, with this system you can still do everything like you're supposed to and still get "screwed." Yes, I can totally understand why folks can feel that way. Especially when they hear other folks who got to experience things multiple times over a trip, and they never got to, and may have spent the same or more money. So yeah, I think people who get hacked that this system is still so crummy after this long really do have the right to get irritated about it. I never understand why some people (and my DH is one) feel the need to tell people why they shouldn't feel some way. If you don't feel the same way, tell them (and why, is nice). But telling people how they should feel, IMO, is incredibly judgemental and terribly rude to boot. And feel free to blast me--right now my living room floor is full of 11 year old boys...you can't scare me!!! LOL

Everyone is different. In the middle of the night I would likely have been asleep for a couple hours already and not thinking straight.

That's the thing, they'd be totally fine! Just because people on this board stay up until midnight or 1am to book their FPs and ADRs does NOT in any way mean that it's required. There's definitely a skewed reality on the DIS.

Maybe the OP wanted to book A/E. Would you be comfortable recommending that they wait until morning to do so?

Sorry, cakebaker, didn't mean to quote you--just meant to make a generic post. The reply and quote buttons are both doing quotes for me today evidently...??

LOL, I have been there many times myself and totally understand! :rotfl2:

It might be the reason, but since we're not privy to the inner workings of Disney, I don't believe any of us know the answer. But when you don't know the answer jumping to the conclusion that obviously it's because Disney sucks, seems a little silly.

Actually the PP has said many times that she loves Disney. One can love Disney but hate the way they handle certain pieces of their business.

Well said cakebaker....

It seems some here want to convince people they will have a terrible experience for some reason.

Its rather strange really...

That's what I don't understand. If you hate Disney, or hate fp+ or hate anything- fine. But why the need to try and scare others into feeling the way you do? Some people haven't even tried it, yet complain about it every possible chance they get.

I have no agenda. I don't work for Disney, I don't own stock. It's in my personal best interest for fewer people to go. The crowds are making me nuts and I'd like to see it lighten up a bit. If FP+ succeeds, great. I like it better than paper fp. If it doesn't, I'll adapt to whatever system they put in place. I didn't like paper fp but I don't believe that I ever one time posted a complaint about it on these boards. It was the system they had, I learned to use it. I'll learn to use the next one.

There are certainly a lot of things about Disney's systems that could be better, but they're still making money hand over fist, so why should they bother to change anything? Should the FP+ system be consistent with time? Of course! Could the ADR window open at a better hour? Yes! Could it limit people to making only one FP+ for A&E (or any ride/experience) so everyone has a better chance? Please! Could it stop people from making FP+ with MBs that aren't linked to a ticket being used? I'd love it! But this is the way it is, and unless people start talking with their money - and it would take a lot of people to make a difference - Disney is going to keep doing things at their pace.

See its not awful.
Its bettter than the old system BY FAR.

With legacy FP you were never sure when your return time would be until the day of, and you could only hold 1 FP at a time. And it required you to criss cross a park to MAYBE get a usable FP (if it didnt cinflict with your ADR).
Just like now FP's ran out. That's life.

If you hit the "reply" button on someone's quote, it will quote it (the "quote" button let's you do the multi-quote). If you just want to reply without quoting, type your reply in the box at the bottom and then hit "post reply".

I would not. Not for A&E, Wishes, or MSEP.

This is incorrect.

Absolutely true- but if those pieces are a significant part of having a great trip, you have a problem.

That's like saying I love Kentucky Fried Chicken- It's just the chicken part I don't like.

No, it's not.

That would be like saying you hate Disney movies and theme park rides and still going.

I go to KFC sometimes and I hate cole slaw. That's what I would compare it to.
