Ok, I might have just jinxed myself (and everyone) but I am not having issues with making ADRs at all. I am around day 170 give or take, and the two times I called I haven't been clock watching. I just made one call now, it's 8:40 am EST, and the last one was around 4:30 EST when I made the call. I didn't have to wait at all- and I had almost every time available for my party of 5, with my pick of days. These are with CRT and Chef Mickey's.

I keep hearing the horror stories, and was reading in the Unofficial Guide that you need to atomic clock set to get a CRT ressie- I am not having that experience at all. And then my AAA guy kept saying the economy is killing travel this year (he says they are dead).

Kind of makes me hope that August won't be bad at all!!! But then, I think...I can't be the only one using some (or all) of my expected stimulus rebate check to go to Disney..so I don't know?!?

We're a party of 5, so that adds a little to the mix.

But we (actually my sister) called at 7 am at the 180 day mark and we got what we wanted. The only glitch was that we got an earlier-than-expected dinner at Le Cellier-- it's around 4:15 pm.

That's OK-- it's our last night, so we'll eat early and have the rest of the evening to enjoy.

And our tax return is paying for this trip. The rebate is going to our Visa bill.

Same for us. We are going next week. I only planned the vacation in January and didnt call for ADR's until last week. I got everything we wanted - did not ask for CRT or Chef Mickey's but got lots of signature restaurants and top lunch/brunch locations - we are doing DxDDP. How are others doing with this? I am secretly hoping parks are slow so we dont have 90 minute lines!!:cool1:

We went last year for free dining and have NO problem making all the ADRs we wanted. We even changed some of them while we were there!

I think all these negative stories and such really get to people, they think they'll have an awful time getting reservations.

I wonder if Disney has been allocating ADR times. Something along the lines of: 25% of the available tables are released at the 180 day mark; another 25% at the 90 day mark; a further 25% at the 30 day mark and 25% kept for the week before?

I think we are safe for now.Once general free dining is announced however, it may make a big difference....but I make my adrs in 20 days or so so hopefully I will be safe.:goodvibes Just because our economy is in the toilet, doesn't mean disney is dead...sure it is probably less crowded, but many Europeans are travelling to Florida because our dollar is so weak right now.:goodvibes

hi from europe!:flower3:
yes, there are lots of europeans coming to see you this summer, me included.
I love Americans, we have had the most amazing stays generally due to the kindness of strangers - some of them disers (those lime green mickey heads:rotfl: :rotfl: )
my son has autism, the americans are much more accepting than alot of brits:scared1: , though not all..
looking forward to seeing some of you

Tracy - you're right...it's the accents. Especially kids! I cannot resist a cute kid with a British accent...I'm not sure why. I guess I'm so used to my kids who have ugly Philadelphia accents like mine.

Back to the topic...I made my ADRs for our August trip at about 175 days and every restaurant I picked was wide open (I didn't want CRT, though).

Everyone I know usually gets the reservations they want if they call 5-6 months in advance. Desirable times seem to go around month 3/4. Two months ahead of time for Easter seemed to cause some problems for signature restaurants. I called 1 1/2 months in advance to see if I could change my Princess breakfast time and they had nothing left. However, a couple other restaurants were still wide open.

I haven't seen any recent horror stories except for folks calling a few weeks ahead of time and expecting to get LeCellier or Princess breakfasts.

I called at the 180 day mark for our Aug trip (but not early in the AM) and could not get the times I wanted for a Mama Melrose Fantasmic package or Cal grill (not even trying for arounfd fireworks time). Other ressies were fine though.

I called at the 180 day mark for our August ADRs and I was able to get everything we wanted including CRT breakfast, L'Cellier and Cali. We are getting really excited however, I am wishing for free dining or something to shave some of the cost off our trip.

Wow - you all are giving me some hope! My 180 day mark isn't until June - but I know I want to try to get CRT for breakfast, and I've been thinking this will be next to impossible. Your stories have given me hope! Thanks!

Speaking of CRT, that is one reservation we did make 180 early in 2001. But one morning we decided we really wanted to eat there that day, and had no trouble getting in!

I've always been completely baffled by some peoples problems getting ADRs.

We never have problems making our ADRs, we simply email them to our travel agent well in advance and she takes care of everything at the appropriate time.
