If you're not a huge disney fan most of them offer brutal value, the exception being Animal Kingdom which is inexplicably not regarded as number 1 by every disney fan. And look at that, it's 2 on that list making it tops for disney on TA.

The values are brutal value for what you get and can be incredibly noisy. I've experienced literally all night (until 4 am) chanting from a cheerleader group. What did some people say on here? Know when they're going, can't be helped! Like, what? Any other motel at that price point would call the police and kick them out. Moving on from moderates. My favorite, which I will pay for over and over is CBR. The value is straight up bad though. Currently 234 for standard rate plus taxes. I could go on.

I stay at disney and it's worth it to me but I'm a huge disney fan. The vast majority of TA users wont be disney wonks simply because most people aren't. I can see why they hotels would be ranked as they are.

I do not rate tripadvisor highly. I am not saying Disney hotels are bad or anything. I just find it well strange. That people going to Disney are well not choosing Disney Hotels. I wonder why they are not doing this. The psychology of it I guess

Maybe I'm getting re-directed to a different page because I'm in the US, but what I see at that link is a list of deals at various Orlando hotels by TripAdvisor's partners. It's not a review or a ranking or an indicator of how many people are booking those hotels. The partners have likely paid TripAdvisor for their inclusion on that page, and they're choosing the hotel deals they want to promote.

I use Trip Advisor a ton for trip planning. That said, I put little stock in their hotel and restaurant rankings because of the way they do the math. No weight is given to the number of reviews an establishment has. So a truly Michelin level restaurant with 1,000 reviews that average 4 1/2 stars could be beaten out by my uncles's donut shop that has 10 reviews...all 5-star because all the family members gave it a top review.

On the Orlando TA list, it makes sense that Four Seasons is the top hotel. It makes no sense that Holiday Inn Express in the UCF area is the 3rd best hotel in Orlando....nothing against Holiday Inn Express. If a hotel pays for a spot towards the top of the list it will show "sponsored" by the hotel's name (just like products on Amazon that come to the top when doing a search). I just scroll on past the sponsored names and start looking at the the traveler rankings...and that's where I start to see wacky things.

I place a lot more value on the travel forums like this one and the Trip Advisor forums and trip reports where real people give restaurant and hotel reports. Of course, opinions will vary but to me the information is more authentic.

I'm getting a page that lists "Best Value." Honestly - no Disney Resort Hotel will ever make that list. The only "value" to staying at a Disney resort is what Disney fans perceive.

From a strict dollar vs. amenities standpoint, the Disney resorts are really poor.

I agree completely. A couple of nights at the Hard Rock at Universal convinced me of that. It does not have the theming, but for value, service, and amenities it beats virtually all the WDW hotels.

Money, plain and simple. Disney resorts are generally costly in comparison. People can stay in a 3 or 4 star resort offsite for less than 1/2 the cost of a Disney resort.
Now that Disney is charging for parking,staying onsite just became even less appealing for many.

For those flying there is still a cost incentive to stay onsite. No rental car costs nor cost for town car etc. to resort.
I do find the offsite park shuttles to often be very inconvenient, less frequent and further from park entrance.
When many scrimp and save every penny to afford a Disney trip for the family, the cost of Disney resorts is out of reach.

Stayed onsite and offsite. I have only stayed at an All Star and honestly it really has little to offer. The shuttles are further and fewer, no coffee in the room, noisy and the rooms are quite tiny. If it was my very first trip and I had little kids and it was all I could afford I would do it. Wont do it again now though.

This page isn’t a top ten list. It’s a list of hotels. It’s going to change depending on what you look at it. And you can change how the list is sorted. TA user rated, value, etc.

You think it’s strange that people going to Orlando aren’t all staying onsite? There’s nothing strange about it. People travel for all sorts of reasons. And Orlando is BIG.

The list I get when clicking your link has the MCO Hyatt regency at the top.

Not sure what psychology has to do with anything.

Not to mention this site is the Australian one (the .au instead of .com gives it away, for anyone unfamiar with that) and Australians tend to have LONG stays. If I’m settling in for a couple/few weeks and my plane fare cost in the tens of thousands to begin with, I’m choosing something that’s a decent *value* for my stay. And to me being onsite for ages isn’t a value at Disney.

that’s why it’s called “the Disney bubble”. In reality there are far superior hotels in Orlando, in quality and price. Disney Resorts are beautiful, but honestly for the price you paid, they aren’t.

I'm seeing the same. When I click on the OP's link a La Quinta is the second hotel listed. If that's a top 10 hotel anywhere there's more than 10 hotels I'd question whether it was a satire piece.

If I click to change to "traveler ranked" the first listed is Ramada Orlando Florida Mall (SPONSORED), the next is Four Seasons, followed by Villas of Cypress Hills, then a Holiday Inn Express that doesn't appear to be a sponsored placement. This list is complete trash.

Universal hotels are much better than Disney's. Their value properties, including the Aventura opening in August, and the Endless Summer coming in 2020 blow Disney away from design to amenities.

As does Royal Pacific! My sentimental favorite at Disney is the Polynesian, but I have to (hate to) admit, it pales in comparison to RP!

All the deluxes at Universal are great. We really like RPR. CBBR at Universal is also an incredible value. We love staying there but wouldn’t do a value at Disney because of all the noise. If your paying that much to be on Disney property may as well choose a quieter resort. We end up at AKV, OKR or SSR typically.

The noise at values is really a stress point for me. We’ve never stayed at one before but I have a split stay booked including Pop in September to give it a try. I started out planning 4 nights, now I’m down to 3, and probably reducing to two. The lack of queen beds always stopped me before but that’s no longer an excuse.
