for my DS birthday breakfast. What can anyone tell me about the RC? Would I need PS for breakfast? Especially since it is going to be a Saturday morning??

I have not eaten there for breakfast, but for dinner. The atmosphere is great. Leaves and trees and waterfalls and vines all over, along with huge fish tanks and audio-animatronic animals such as gorillas, elephants, snakes, and butterflies. Every 30 minutes the rainforest does a "thunderstorm" where the lights flash on and off (not completely, they just kinda dim) and you hear thunder noises. It's really a fun restaurant.

I've never been for breakfast- just a late dinner. I really didn't enjoy it, it was okay but we had to wait forever for a table, despite having a reservation. Once there the waitress took our order, dropped the dishes off and we didn't see her again until the bill came. no drink refills, etc!

We really enjoyed our breakfast there. We ate there mid-week off season, but we still called ahead to reserve a time. It did take a long time for the food to come after we ordered, but we weren't in a big hurry. In case you haven't seen their breakfast menu yet, check out this link:

Have a wonderful trip!

My brother and his family always have breakfast there when we are visiting DLR. He says that for his family of four it is way cheaper and nicer than the IHOP on Harbor.

We've done lunch there, and always do PSs, 1 time we got to sit by the elephants, the other time by the monkeys... very cool... dd (now 4) loved it!! Hubby and I shared lettuce wraps and pizza, and it was very yummy... might try breakfast there this time!

We do RFC almost every trip. We love it. We have the club card, it gives us a shorter wait time and a free appetizer or discount off our meal. We use the free appetizer and then share a meal. :) We have never done breakfast, no clue if you would need ressies or what the menu is but reservations are a good idea. Enjoy your trip!

We go there every trip as well. Only for lunch and dinner though.

Here is the breakfast menu though:

Our last time there in Oct wasn't the best. The service was pretty terrible actually. Our server was more interested in helping a larger table that got seated much AFTER us. It was quite frusterating, and we didn't tip at all. My Mom's burger had a really hard bun. And we weren't seated by ANYTHING really. That was disappointing because it was my Mom's first time there, and she was so excited to see some of the animals move.

We'll probably go back this time though, in hopes of better service at least!

We did not care much for breakfast there. Lunch/dinner was good, just took awhile. For a birthday breakfast a Disney character meal will still be best!!!

Enjoy

We have eaten at the Rainforest Cafe here at home (when we had one) many, many times & it was one of our fav places to take the kids. Food was always good, LOVED the atmosphere & service was always good as well.
We had a very similar experience to JenDisneylandlver when we were at the one in DTD last May. Our server seemed much more concerned with a larger party (it wasn't huge or anything, just larger than our party of 4) & kind left us there. Drinks were never refilled & my DS' order was wrong. It took us forever to get our server to our table to get it corrected. Our bill wasn't small either (which we waited forever for as well) so he could have scored a pretty good tip had he payed any attention to us.
I would go back however because of the past experiences that we have had at other locations. I think (I HOPE! lol) that we just hit an off night. I would highly recommend making PS though. We didn't have one & we weren't able to get a table anywhere near any of the exciting stuff. That was our own fault though so I have no complaints about that! :)

Sorry....I just noticed after I posted that you were asking specifically about breakfast. We were there for dinner. We have never tried breakfast there. In fact I didn't even know that they did breakfast! That might be a plan for next time.

Breakfast is pretty good there. I would make reservations just in case it is busy. Just an FYI, they usually only seat breakfast downstairs, which means there are no animals-elephants, monkey, etc... It is a rainforest atmosphere with storm and all, but not the larger animals like they have upstairs. There are also aquariums downstairs, too. It's nice if you're looking for something less Disney and more than Denny's, etc... Otherwise, I agree, character breakfasts are the best!

We must have had the same server! LOL Now that you mention it, it took forever to get our bill too. When we finally did it had a soda on there we never ordered. She didn't even say sorry or anything, and seemed irritated that we wanted her to fix it!

I'm also hoping it was just an off day for them, and that it doesn't show of a trend!

We live near a mall with an RFC and have their club membership. If you don't have one near you may be able to join on-line. One of the perks is priority seating - you get the first available table whenever you arrive. I joined several years ago and at that time the cost was just $10 (or it was more but you got a certificate to spend in their store so it came out to that much) for lifetime membership.

Grown daughter and I had lunch at the Rainforest Cafe. Even with a reservation, we had to wait. We each ordered a foofy cocktail, we split their appetizer sampler, we each ordered entrees (different entrees), and we split a dessert. We each tasted each other's drinks and entrees. Now, we are both big girls and so, are not at all picky. Well, I must tell you neither of us was impressed by anything we tasted. 2 drinks, 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, and 1 dessert -- and nothing we went gaga over. And, their prices are very high (in my opinion). So, we won't be going there again. Yes, the periodic animal noises and thunderstorms are nifty neato, but not THAT nifty neato.

After looking at the menu i think we will go next time we go to disneyland.... we use to have a rfc here but they took it out.........it was pretty ok food here........and the prices are about the same as you pay anywhere else food wise.... i don't know about drinks ( but we won't be drinking anywayz) It looks like i would be worth a try and has something for everyone!

lol Ours was male but maybe they are related? ;)
It was the only dissapointing food experience of our entire trip. If I hadn't had good past experiences with the Rainforest Cafe....I would probably never go back.

We went for dinner in December and thankfully made a reservation. We didn't have to wait very long, but it sort of annoyed me that the waiting area inside was basically a huge gift store. We were seated by a tree with butterflys, which was OK - I know that seating is basically a hit or miss so we weren't expecting too much. My husband and I both had cedar plank salmon, and it was one of the better meals that we had while at DL. It was fresh and perfectly seasoned and grilled. I don't mind paying for a good meal, but am I the only one that thought the drink prices were outrageous? My husband had two beers and I think they were $6 or $7 each! It seemed like every table around us had those glasses that flash and have lights. I'm sure if I had ordered one I wouldn't have found it annoying, but getting flashed from every angle was a little intense. I'm glad we went but I don't think we'd go again - nothing stood out enough to justify another $80.

We have not been to breakfast , but love dinner there! We must have had the good waiter in October:confused3 , we had great food and service! We may try breakfast this next trip.

Ah yes, brother and sister perhaps? LOL

Same here, if that was my first time going there, I might not want to go back either. We've had some wonderful meals there though, and I do love those light up glasses you can buy! :rotfl: So we'll be back, fingers crossed for both of us that it's better next time!
