I don't understand why you'd name a kid something that thousands of other people are already named.

I was just thinking about the whole concept of names today. They're like labels. How can you decide how to characterize an entire person until you know they're personality? Like how parents name their unborn children.
Just a strange concept. Sorry for getting all philosophical and going OT :]

I do not like the new names that people seem to have just made up...Ashlyn (my middle name is Ashley though) Rayden, Riley, Kayleigh...they just don't appeal to me at all.

If I have a daughter someday I want to name her Elenore Jasmine but called her Ellie.
I love the name Ellie, and Jasmine is the name of my best friend in the whole wide world.
I guess you could consider Ellie an old or strange name.
