I am in love with my ATG glue gun

I've had mine for about a month now and I also love it. I bought mine at a LSS so I just got a couple rolls to start, but I have to order more tape from that website - their prices are so cheap!

Is it big and clunky or is it pretty easy to use? When I saw it online, it looked like it would be hard to work with. I'm used to using Duck brand tape rollers as well as Tombo. But, lately I've been getting the Duck brand with 40% off coupons in 4 packs at Jo's. Even that isn't very cost effective. I hate the liquid glues, so I don't want those.

I thought it would be big and clunky too, but it's really not. Calanniebu was nice enough to let me try hers at a crop, so I could see what it felt like. It takes a few minutes to get used to it, but pretty quickly I was comfortable with it.

I've had mine since January. I'm on my 6th roll of tape. I had originally ordered 5, and just had to reorder about 2 weeks ago.

I got mine from framing supplies too. Be warned, every order comes with a free roll of bubblewrap! They don't use boxes, they just roll everything up in the bubblewrap and tape it. It's the strangest package I've ever received.

I think it's very easy to work with. It looks big, but it's light. Much lighter than a tape gun that you would use to seal boxes. My MIL, bought one after seeing mine (she makes cards). She is left handed so had some problems with the tape sliding off at the beginning, but she loves it now too.

Is the adhesive it comes with acid free? I see that there is a gold refill also. What kind does everyone use in theirs?

The gold refills are the ones that are acid free. I know sometimes it gets said the regular rolls are, but other people have tested them and they came back with acidity. So it's the gold ones for me.

I got used to it pretty quickly! It is bigger and clunkier than what you are used to using when you go to take it to a crop but it's SOOO worth it.

NEE: Next time you need refills, want to get a larger order together and split shipping?

So you use this in place of your tape runner, xyron and liquid glue pens?

I use it in place of tape runner, or the photo corners, and some stuff I would use my Xyron for.

I mostly use the Xyron for vellum now. I still use glue pens for small pieces like letters or paper piecing parts. The tape is 1/4" wide, so anything smaller than that needs something else.

I also still use glue sticks for attaching fibers that wrap around items (like around a photo mat). I do use the ATG gun for attaching ribbon.

Definitely!
K. Let me know when you're game. I've got my last refill in right now. Are you planning on going to the crop at Laurie's on the 22nd?

So you use this in place of your tape runner, xyron and liquid glue pens?

I reach for my tombo tape runner or liquid glue pens if I need to get in a small space for a reglue. I still use my xyrons (little x and 500) for letters and smaller things I don't feel like trying to make either of my ATG or tape runner fit. I

Two quick questions,

1) I assume it's the 714 gun you are referring to?? The 700 says it needs an adapter for 1/4" tape?

2) Can you tell me what the shipping runs?

Thanks!
Kathy

Yes, I'm talking about the 714. That's the one I have. And I think it's weight based. It's costing me a little of $6 I think for 12 rolls of tape. I think others have researched it and the place SusieStone listed is the cheapest. :-)

On framing supplies website, you can add things to your cart, and then go to checkout. In the non address required fields, you can enter a 1 and it will give you the shipping costs. There are instructions on the page.

I have the 714 gun too. I figured if I needed 1/2" I can just make 2 passes with the 1/4", although I have never needed to do that.

I have the red 714 gun and absolutely love it! No more running out of tape or searching for the tape runner. Its a little bulky but easy to get used to. The tape holds really well, but you can still pull it up from cardstock shortly after you adhere it. Paper is a little trickier. Definately a good value!

thanks for the warning. my office manager got quite a laugh at the package :-)

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? About the price? I pay around $5.50 and up for a single roll of Dotto and about $5 for a single roll of CM tape runner.... and I go through LOTS of it (I probably use too much). I've GOT to take a look at this. Even if shipping doubles the price, it still sounds like a bargain! I'm off to check this out!.........................P

I just got bought 12 rolls from the framingstore and split the order (and shipping with NEE. It's costing me $19.435/6 ~ 3.24/roll and that's with shipping. :-) where in south central NH are you?
