As the mother of an 18 month old and a 4 year old, I am really glad they don't allow non-potty trained kids in the pools. A swim diaper does not always keep everything in and some people do not change their children's diapers enough. After I saw a special on TV (one of those News Shows like 60 Minutes) on children who have died from EColi in public swimming pools, that was enough for me!! Even when we took our daughter to the YMCA for swim lessons there were parents there who wanted their children to swim in the pool without swim diapers. The teachers had to constantly remind people to put on swim diapers.

I will be perfectly happy having my baby play in the Mickey Ear while my 4 year old plays in the Mickey Pool HOPEFULLY ONLY with potty trained children who use the bathroom and not the pool to go potty!

I AGREE!

Way too many people put non-potty trained kids into public pools without a swim diaper. But it's not only the little kids that cause the problems.

There was a post on the resorts board a while back in which the poster described a disgusting incident. She said her kids were in one of the resort pools, and a child from another family announced to his mom that he had to use the potty. Kid's mom simply tells him "just go in the pool".

UGH.

So, non-potty trained kids can go in the mickey ears, but not in the face part of the pool? Does that mean that there is an age limit in the Mickey Ears? ::MickeyMo

I believe it's on one of the Mickey ears they can go in....the one with the little fountain.

I hope there is an age limit for the Mickey Ear that is for the Baby/Toddlers. It wouldn't be very safe to have older kids in there with the little ones, I would guess?

There is not an age limit for the non PTd ear and you will see bigger kids in there when there are no babies in it. When I kept DD in there for a couple days on our first cruise just to make sure she would tell me when she had to go potty since she was just PTd & hadn't been in a pool situation yet since we cruised in November. I sat on the edge with another mom & whenever the big kids came in, we simply told them that that part of the pool was for kids who wore diapers & were not PTd. Usually that got them out right away. :) The CM who was keeping an eye on the slide did come over to tell them to get out with the same information but she was pretty busy over there.

I've noticed the fountain ear to be pretty over run with big kids even as old as about 8. They usually will listen to the parents of the children in the fountain ear and that usually keeps the little ones safe. The cm watching the pool said nothing to the kids on our cruise. I noticed the parents had to do it all.
