I am going to splurge!! Help on popcorn maker!

beavismom,
do you normally get the prepack popcorn and oil or do you buy some from the local grocery store and does it work out as well?
so far, i seem to like the one you own the best...i need a larger one and i like the easy clean up factor...we have a swimming pool and i see this getting lots of use!!
any tricks that i should know/

LOL, OMG, that Waring Popcorn maker QVC "b roll" (the film of the popcorn machine working) was filmed in my basement!!! The family in the green room, watching QVC on the big screen are my neighbors, LOL.

I didn't eat the popcorn from it but the kids in the clip did and they weren't complaining. It was a cute machine. We have a commercial grade popcorn maker that Target and movie theaters use. It makes FANTASTIC popcorn but it also cost over $700.

I also want to add you can order popcorn kits from Sams Club, online. A kit is a box with about 30 packets. Each packet is divided, one side is a bar of solidified oil, the other is corn kernals with flavacol (the flavoring that makes theater and Target popcorn so irresistible). We have a 4oz. kettle and the kits we buy are made for 4oz. kettles, so you have to know your kettle's size.

I love our Whirley Pop!

It's inexpensive, quick, fun to use and easy to clean.

You can get the various components from the grocery store usually. You need coconut oil, butter popcorn salt, and the kernels. That is the budget way to go, but this is why I don't...

1. The pre-measured packets are soooo easy for my kids to use. They can make popcorn as easy as the microwave and I never have to worry about burned microwave popcorn. :)

2. The mess factor. There is much less mess this way. No oil or salt measuring...

3. The pre-measured stuff stays fresher because you are only unsealing the amount you want to pop.

As for tips, I cut apart the different sections of the package so they can be handled easier. Other than that, it is so easy there isn't much else to do. The other thing is to make sure you clean the metal piece on the bottom very well because if the oil sits there it will make the popcorn taste bad.

I haven't read all of the replies so someone may have mentioned this
but I just got a flyer from JCPenney and they have the popcorn maker cart for 99$.

I was more but I guess there is a rebate of some kind. I thought of you and thought I'd pass that along.
