I am a pro at braces...I had them three times 1) baby teeth when permanent ones coming in 2) on the permanent teeth 3) just this past year when my teeth moved even with a permant retainer...go figure. Anyway, the first day stick to eating soft foods, the more pressure you apply to your teeth the more "uncomfortable" (not exactly pain...think headache pain) it will be, so just don't try eatin an apple or something on the first day. Also take any sort of asprin, pain reliever, etc almost before you get the braces on, so it will be fast acting. Just continuing taking the pain reliever...no problem. Your tongue will want to explore the new equipment, so be careful, really let the doctor know if something is poking you. Your lips will adjust in a couple days to having braces, so talking might be interesting, you'll learn fast! In a couple days, you will be adjusted and you probably won't notice them. When you get the braces adjusted, you teeth might be sensitive again for about half an hour, but each time it gets easier. If your teeth are like mine, they adjust fast, and you can always see results within the week. Good Luck! If there are any more questions let me know, I sometimes think I could just do my own dental work!
