Hi all,

Well we have been back almost three weeks (no the trip reports aren't finished yet - but I am working on it  ) and just about ready to start planning the return trip in 2006.

Have tried to book the villa which we stayed in, but it is already booked. My question is how much does it really cost to stay at a Disney resort, is it worth the money?

My other question is has anyone done a Disney Wedding Vow renewal, both DH and me are up for this and if it looks like we are going to spend big bucks we may as well go the whole hog:rolleyes:

Thanks again for all your help, I promise to get the trip reports posted as soon as

Hi Maria! I see that you are in Solihull! So am I! I just wanted to say Hi to a fellow Sillhillian (is that how you spell it??):D

I would love to stay at a Disney hotel, but I can't justify the extra cash so what we are thinking of doing for our November trip is just staying at AKL for a couple of nights as we have a villa booked for the three weeks.

I just really really want to wake up with a giraffe poking it's head over the balcony!!!:hyper:

Hi T16GEM

It's a small world:teeth:

I've considered that option also, I really want ot experience the whole Disney thing. The atmousephere is so great it would be lovely to have a few days to really get into the swing of it.

Anyway i guess it will be back to the drawing board - still i've got 694 days to plan to infinity and beyond:hyper:

Regards

Hi Maria

Looking forward to those trip reports ;)

Both Sam and I have done Disney Weddings, but if you check on the Disney Weddings Board I am sure I have seen some posts on there about Vow Renewels - I still *lurk* there;)

You can ask Dreams Unlimited for a quote for staying on site. There should be a link on the www.wdwinfo.com page :)

Hi KayleeUK,

Thanks for your reply. It is so lovely to be in touch with like-minded people. I really live for holidays and it is nice to know that other people can get excited about the prospect as I do.

Thanks for the advice I will have a look:cool:

Regards,

I think you would find staying onsite completely different from a villa or off site hotel. We stayed off site the first visit and after staying onsite would never do anything else. We even bought into DVC so we could AlWAys stay on site. You experience the whole Disney package and standards are very high.

The costs aren't too bad if you stick to the budget hotels ie All Stars and Pop Century. Instead of booking a package through a tour operator why not book a cheap flight and book your accommodation direct. We used to do this when there were 5 of us to pay for. Now we're lucky enough to be able to staye at DeLuxe accommodation but I'd still opt for Disney Budget rather than go elsewhere.

Get some prices and you'll see it's cheaper than you think.
Good luck!

Hi Maria

Just thought I'd say that I'd be interested in vow renewal with my dh too. I didn't realise that this was something that you could do at Disney (knew you could do the actual wedding, but not this), so I'll be interested in any responses too.

Me and dh will have been together for 10 years in 2005 and married for 5, so we're planning a special cruise & stay break.

Hi again Maria

I forgot to say, stopping on site is wonderful and definitely worth the expense. The service and cleanliness is staggering, and it is great being with the Mouse fulltime!

Hi AJ,

Thanks for your replies.

I am a real big softy and would love to do amoething really special when we go away. The vow renewal seemed ideal - we will have been married 17 years and together 19 years. I know that it is not some big anniversary but it would just be lovely - i have the idea in my head that DD could be bridesmaid :bride:

If i manage to find out more details i will post. I requested further info from disney.com i think. I'll keep you posted.

Regards,

I'm a big softie too, Maria, so I completely understand. What a lovely idea to have your dd as bridesmaid.

I look forward to hearing from you again if you find out any info.

I take it you guys have seen this.

Onsite or offsite is a very individual thing and I think you have to experience both to know for sure which you prefer. I wouldn't want to spend extended periods of time onsite, but a couple of days at a time is nice. If you're going to do it, it's worth getting APs and hoping for a room discount - they can be significant. I'd recommend booking at the rack rate to make sure you get your dates and then changing to an AP rate if one is released for your dates. If you book through Dreams Unlimited, they will do all the legwork for you.

If you're going to stay onsite, I think it's worth staying at either one of the MK resorts or one of the Epcot resorts. That way you're right in the thick of it and it's easier to get around.

We stayed in a villa on our first trip and have decided next year to stay onsite, albeit at the ASMo. Yes it is more expensive but when you think that you can have your length of stay passes included in the price, we felt that it was better value. Also we had a 40 min drive plus tolls every time we went to a park, not to mention cost of parking. Also we only had 5 day passes. I'm sure that in the long run there can't be an awful lot of difference in it. But of course everyone has their own choice. whatever you choose, have a great trip.

My wife and I are staying at Pop from November 26th for 15 nights - total accommodation costs = £690. Coupled with my BA flights (£950 Glasgow - LGW - MCO) thats £1640 for the two of us staying in Disney. Realistically £820 a head - compare that to what Virgin etc can charge for some of the IDrive hotels....
