I am disappointed with so many changes at Hollywood Studios

It used to be my favorite park to go to since it opened. Now with all the changes that is occurring it sad to see so much stuff being taking away. I have heard that the Great Movie is going away. When that happens I might not go back to the Studios. Yeah I know Star Wars Land (I think its called that) is coming but this park is not the same.

We've gone annually for the past 5 years, and this September we made the decision to skip HS for the first time. It's a construction zone at this point. Now, once the Toy Story and Star Wars lands open up it will be a completely different story, but I just don't think it's worth spending a full day at right now (especially for shorter trips).

I do agree I miss the way HS use to be when it first opened. But I guess the powers that be saw an opportunity to make make more money by tapping into people's love of Star Wars & children's love of Toy Story. I blame Harry Potter . Right now HS kind of sucks (imho, DH disagrees), but I'm sure once both lands are finished it'll be wonderful.

What recent things have been taken away that you don't like? So many people seem to say "half the park is closed", etc... I just don't quite see it that way. Streets of America are gone. How many people really went back there? Honey I Shrunk the Kids? That was a ghost town. Backlot Tour has been gone for a while, and was an empty ride before it closed anyway. Lights Motors Action was cool, and I'm sad that's gone, so I agree there. Great Movie Ride is still there, I don't think there's any solid plans announced for it yet?? So really, I don't see it having had any bad changes recently (except Lights/Motors/Action), and think the new things they're creating are going to be awesome! I'm not a Star Wars junkie, but I'm still looking forward to whatever they do. Heck, I've never seen Avatar, but am looking forward to seeing the new attractions at AK.

DHS hasn't been an original "studios" park in a very, very long time, way before the construction of SWLand and TSLand was even announced. Like others have said you cannot notice the construction unless you are in the back by Muppets courtyard or in the back of TSMM.

My DH was watching a video (I believe maybe even a DIS podcast?) who said they can't take down Streets of America because something about the movie screen @ SciFi is attached and part of one of the walls in Street of America.

It's funny how everyone is different. Our favourite things about HS were the Backlot tour, Honey I shrunk the kids and the Streets of America. The Great Movie Ride is also a favourite, but it sounds like even it will be going. So, I guess it all depends on what you liked about HS. Getting rid of so much nostalgia all at once was certainly a turn off for our family. Kinda like if all at once they axed Splash Mountain, Carousal of Progress and the People mover from Magic Kingdom. It just wouldn't be the same!

I just think it "feels" more crowded all the time becauses there is less space for people to spread out. I still like the remaining parts but I do miss what has been taken, especially the Osborne Lights and the streets there with the book shop. Lots of good memories.

I just don't like to go there over the Christmas season now that the Osbourne lights are gone. Any other time of year I'm fine and there are still lots of things I like to do there.

Great Movie Ride is rumored to be changed but it is only a rumor at this time. It is unlikely they will even consider touching it until the rest of the construction is complete, so you still have a couple of years to enjoy it most likely. I think HS will come out better in the end, but right now it is certainly having some growing pains.

I really enjoyed the Backlot Tour, and I used to love HISTK but I have to wonder whether or not that one is nostalgia - I feel like I wouldn't enjoy it as much today.

I understand feeling disappointed when something you really like disappears, though. Tower of Terror is one of my favorite rides, along with Haunted Mansion, and if it were to ever lose its Twilight Zone theming like CA's did, I would be very sad. (I'm sure it will, at some point, but let me pretend!)

Right now, I still like HS very much & am looking forward to all of the new experiences. I think it's going to continue to be a lot of fun - just different fun. :)

Based simply on its old Hollywood/studio theme DHS should have always been my favorite park as I love the theme.I've always loved the park but I never felt the park got the attention it needed.Too many attractions that have just lingered around for too long or needed updating. The backlot tour for example was a shell of its former self, the Lights,Motors action show actually wasn't there that long and while it wasn't always a must see for me that attraction held a lot of guest who are now spread out throughout the current tiny park making lines longer everywhere.I would also be sad if they close the Great Movie ride,no reason to close it just update it.In my opinion the only thing I'm really going to miss are the Osborne lights, that was my favorite anything holiday at Disney, that new Christmas fireworks/projection is fine but nothing will replace the lights unless they put their thinking caps on and bring a similar light show and maybe put it in Toy Story land.I overall felt the park did need a change,I'm still not sure what the final name will be for the park as its getting away from a studios theme,I'm just in a wait and see mode right now.Someone mentioned Harry Potter and right now anything Potter is trouncing Disney,I hope I love Pandora and the new DHS cause I didn't love Rivers of Light,I liked it but these shows are permanent, you want something that will make you get out there in the future and that show didn't.

This.

It's still our most visited park. There's plenty to do.

Unless I just don't know what you're referring to, that doesn't make any sense. And streets of America is gone now.

DHS has always been at the bottom of the list for my family, Launch Bay and the additional Star Wars stuff we enjoy. We do a morning there and then go back for F! and will be heading over there on another night to catch the SW fireworks, but it never really feels like a full day park for us.

Exactly. The areas that are closed are mostly areas that were barely used. Who wandered around Streets that much? Other than to look at Mr. Gold's Pawn Shop window I know we didn't. The vast majority of HS is there and when the construction is done, well have a lot more than was removed.

And really, folks need to stop worrying about rumored things and concentrate on confirmed things. Great Movie rides demise is a rumor, not a fact. Worry if it becomes fact, until them, what a waste of worrying

I was so sad they got rid of Animation Studios! First, they removed the actual animators and then they removed the drawing class that I loved and did at least once each trip. I even enjoyed the "show" at the beginning with Mushu. I'm not a thrill ride person and I really don't need to see the shows every time I go, but we miss the Backlot Tour. I think the Frozen Sing-a-long is lame/terrible and I wish they would put something else in there. (I kind of liked American Idol, but I know it's gone like the t.v. show) I thought they updated GMR and was hoping to see it...I'll be very disappointed if it goes. 7 of us and 2 infants are going in October and I keep thinking we should skip this park but I know the others will want to do ToT, RNRC and we all love TSM. I hope to see the new fireworks but, with babies, I don't know if we'll stay that late. Sad to see the Osborne lights go, too.

FEA is at Epcot, not HS

My DH said there was something in Hollywood Studios that was preventing them from moving forward with either construction or one of the lands because the projection screen @ Sci-Fi Dine in Theatre was part of - or attached - to one of the buildings that was supposed to be torn down. I shamefully admit I was only half paying attention to what he was saying though.
