You probably didn't miss me but I missed yall. We had a very bad summer storm here in Memphis 2 weeks ago. We had straight line winds around 100 miles an hour. It pulled up trees by the roots and downed power lines. We had 3/4 of the city without power for days. I had no power for 2 weeks. For those of you in the south, you know how hot that can be. I just got back to normal yesterday and had to quickly go online and check this site out. I am so glad to have air conditioner, lights and my COMPUTER! It will take me days to read all that has happened since I last was here. I am so glad to be back!

Oh I am so sorry that you have problems - but you and your family are okay - right - no one hurt or anything?

We didn't have any real damage here, but lost a couple of trees. I have friends who lost their homes and cars. It was like a tornado that went every where not just in a line. The trees I saw down were at least 5 or 6 feet round. I never have seen anything like it before. We were very blessed that we didn't have more damage. We have 20 or more trees in our yard and it could have been really bad. We were just very hot. It wasn't fun going without all the things we come to expect. It is really sad when you consider ice a real treasure. LOL

Hi Merylin
I remember you from the DVC boardson AOL.
Im Debbie and work at the disney store at Wolfchase.
Its nice for you to be back.
We were lucky and never lost power.
WE have a trip planned to OKW in Sept.

Tonight on MSNBC they called the storm a "Bow Echo" with 100 mph winds, and said it did not make the national news quicker because it was not a tornado. I had been wondering why it was not called a tornado, but the reporter explained that one of these storms does not follow a path like a tornado. I have never seen anything like this before in Memphis (I live 1 hour north). Glad to hear you guys are okay. Candace

Glad you are okay, we are in East TN and the storms had really calmed by the time they hit here. Welcome back.

Merilyn, My sister lives in Collierville and they were lucky and just lost a tree. (no loss of power because of underground utilities.) Her dh was driving in it and was able to pull off of the road. My sister remarked that it could've been so much worse if the storm hit just a little bit later or if school was in session. I'm glad that you are back - safe and sound with your computer and A/C running!
