I'm so agrivated at myself. I booked a standard room at AKL for 9 nights in December and could have upgraded to a pool room at the time for $75 more. At the time I was upgrading from POR to AKL and it was $325 more, and I didn't want to go for $400 more. How stupid is that of me. We're paying $3,000 for the vacation anyway, what's an extra $75? I've tried to upgrade to pool view a few times and they tell me there is no availability for our dates (12/11 to 12/20) on the rate we got (40% off). I'm so annoyed with myself, what was I thinking? Come on now...don't beat yourself up about it. Just keep checking and maybe you'll be able to get the same upgrade later. You've still got lots of time before December and every day there are thousands of people that call to change resorts, dates, cancel, etc. Good Luck!

I know you don't want to hear it. But 75 dollars is a LOT of money.

That's souveniers from your trip right there.
It's money towards a spa treatment at Disney.
It's emergency money.

I do realize when you're paying 3 grand already what's 75 more dollars. But if you think of it as extra fun money you saved yourself maybe it won't sting so much?:

Wow, you are an idoit! I AM KIDDING!!!

I agree with the above posters, 75 bucks at the time didn't sound reasonable to you, so don't beat yourself up over it and rooms open up ALL the time, so no need to stress. Just keep checking and you never know, if not, then take the extra 75 bucks and buy yourself some extra special at Disney and have a great time!

Everytime you call you'll be told 'no availability by the front line CMs'. They can not handle this. You need Guest Services for that. The CRO CM's can ask GS for you.

You must be fairly adament with the CM's that you'd like them to check with Guest Services. Otherwise they'll just tell you no and move on to the next call.

Thanks to Knox's advise, I was able to upgrade from CBR King room to AKL Pool View. Just keep trying, it took me about a month to be able to change. Oh, and we're going about the same time you are (12/9 to 12/15)

I don't know if you have stayed at AKL but we have and IMO I would either pay for basic standard or Sava. room. for view. The pool is nice but I don't think I would pay more to see it out my window? We had a Sava. room and it was nice but the only pool to me that is really over the top is the BC pool! ( it has been voted one of the top pools in Fl for years and years) I think you will be happy because most of the time the standard rooms at AKL sell out 1st and you might get an up grade to the pool anyway.

As others have said you may end up lucky and get upgraded to a pool view anyway at check-in. It happend to us and several friends of ours. We actually really enjoyed the pool view b/c I loved hearing the music wafting in our room from an open balcony door. It was also very relaxing to sit on our balcony and see/hear the pool sounds. If you really want it before try the others advice about checking back every so often to guest services. If you don't get it - $75.00 is a nice meal, souvineir etc...
