i am almost vibrating with excitement.............

first....i haven't been on here much lately, a month ago i finally started a facebook page and its funny how similar facebook can be to this and i have been hanging around there, but back to the reason for posting today. i may have never mentioned it but as a child i lived in Holly Hill and Ormond Beach, for those of you not from FL they are just north of Daytona Beach. i have been yearning to go back for good for a long time but always got completely shot down by my wife. i think i have overcome the resistance and it looks like it is going to happen. we are looking at Casselberry. it is about 40 min from WDW and about 15 min from Full Sail where my daughter has always wanted to study........soooooo.....my question is for anyone with firsthand knowledge of the area. what type of town is Casselberry, are there better choices for us? please give me some input.

Congrats Dalt! I worked in Orlando about 20 years ago and lived in Volusia, but I remember Casselberry -seemed like a nice community. I remember that 436 went though it so it was busy(or convenient, depending how you look at it) along that part but had a lot of neighborhoods off that. It's a little north of Winter Garden, which I remember to be nice as well. I'd say you'd be even closer than 40mins from the World, but it's been a while. Good Luck to you!

yes indeed my dear Sandra......as for the seasons.....well.....i only got a grudge against one of them.... which is one of the reasons we are "outa here". these things do not really happen overnite.....house to sell, jobs to get, etc.

Not sure why you have selected Casselberry, but there are many great neighborhoods around Orlando.

I have nothing against Casselberry.....I rarely do more than drive through it on my way to somewhere else, so i am only familiar with that stretch of SR436.

While you are waiting, you should get the Realtor.com app for your iPhone or iPad.

You can search the real estate market from the comfort of your chair.

The app allows you to set parameters such as number of bathrooms, number of bedrooms, type of real estate, price etc.

You can also search by zip code (Casselberry is 32707) or....if there is a specific area that appeals to you....you can drop a pin in a map and decide how large an area you'd like to search.

By the way......the app is free and while it will never replace a good real estate agent.....it will give you something to do while planning and an idea of what availability and pricing are like in the area you are thinking about selecting.

I have no affiliation with this app or it's developers. I just think it's a great tool and one that John and I used when looking for our new home.

K........the Casselberry thing is my daughter......and it was just what you said, a pin in a map. she wants to be about in the middle between Full Sail and WDW for some reason. it is not etched in stone at all. i have a good friend who is leaving williamsport tomorrow to move into his new home in Bradenton but that is to far the wrong way. we also may not want to buy this time, let someone else worry about the AC, roof, landscaping, etc. this thing could take 6mos or a year, the sooner the better. i am as you may know a career manager in retail so a job is not a worry. if you have any specific areas that you would recommend i would appreciate it. thanks for the app tip. i am going to put it to the iphone now..............i have not been this excited since i was 16 and.............well, um, thats another story.

I live in East Orlando, Cassleberry is about 10 miles from me!!!! Seems like a nice area. We drive thru on the way to my daughters Doctor.
