I am a little confused and a little annoyed.

I just wanted to add a little something else. You may have to wait until 8 months out to book if one of your backup locations is a convention center room. I have two backup locations, one for the ceremony and one for the reception since I'm doing everything outdoors. Luckily both of my backups are also available 12 months out, however, if I had opted to us a ballroom as a backup then I would have had to wait until 8 months out to sign my contract.

I wish everyone the best of luck with your wedding dates! :goodvibes

Meanwhile, even though my reception etc. IS in the park, I was told that I had to wait eight months also.
What are your locations? If you are in a park you should be able to book 12 months out. My reception is in the Living Seas so the ball started rolling 12 months out.

This is the reason I cannot sign until 8 months out. Where are your back-up locations? I already e-mailed my coordinator to see if I could have my back-ups changed so that we could sign earlier. Thanks, Maggie

ok, I feel like a chump asking this, but, what exactly is a NBC event? :confused3

Thanks Lynn! I was actually just catching up on CorpesBrides' thread and just realized what a ridiculous question that was :sad2:

My back up for the YC gazebo is Ariels and my back up for my Italy reception is the Living Seas. I switched to Ariels b/c I wanted to be able to book 12 months out. Waiting until the 8 month mark might have killed me! ;)

You have just made my day!!!! Living Seas was one of my second choices for a reception, but I didnt say anything to Kristi about it--crossing my fingers I won't need one. Hopefully she can do some changes and get this contract thing done!! Thanks so much!

Oh Good I'm glad it helped! Good luck!! I hope you're able to sign your contract SOON! :)

That is so funny! I am still learning what all the abbreviations are, I thought I already knew my abc's but not disney style!!:)

Well I am going to chime in and what I was told by Disney. We called them in March to get information and get dates and times we can hold/reserve locations and when we had to put deposits down to lock-up the locations. We Said we could be penciled in for our ceremony ahead of 1 yr mark but we would have to go thru the lottery that they have weekly. They pull the names for the selected days and time slots for the next year of the same week, ex. The week of 19th-25th of May 2008 will be drawn during the week of May 21st-28th of this year.
If your first choice is not drawn your name gets added to your second choice lottery then a name is drawn. This will go on till your choices are up, you have your date or all dates and time slots filled. If you are unfortunate and do not get any, they will contact you for more options.
As for the receptions, some have more of a time window in making ressie's than other. In our case we were able to book the Napa room at the California Grill 1 yr out and had no lottery system. It was more of a first come first serve basis like ADR's.
We were then told that the times were locked up by us and we did not have to worry about losing them even though we have not signed a contact or put a down payment. We are not doing eith of those things till late July 07, even though we are a custom.

When you put your deposit down does that count towards the wedding costs?

Yes it does. The $1500 dollars deposit will be taken off the total cost. Side note This 1500 can only be made using check, money order or cash as it is hold and not a payment till the wedding is finished. We were hoping to use our Disney credit card for all bills to tally up the disney point to redeem for wedding party hotel ressies. We would then just payoff the credit card when we got our first bill so we don't get the finance charges.

That's what I thought,thank you!!

Gosh - I am so glad that my wedding is over with all of these new changes. I wish that Disney would be across the board with everything. It was my understanding that they did not like to make people (I am talking in general not DFTW) feel that they had to spend more to matter.

I was an Ariels reception so I got mine booked at 12monthes. I understand that many of you would be frustrated by this. It should not matter how much money people are spending. My wedding was a custom.
