I still laugh about that one. Here I thought the contract was good for my lifetime but it was only good for the lifetime of the gym....
As longtime DIS member (name removed) has stated before
"according to Florida statute, nothing is ever sold for "lifetime" but rather just until notification of termination."

It is well within your right to not bring your mug back...but to tell others they can't because you got duped by a "get fit quick" scheme in the 70's is ridiculous. Stop making up rules and do something about what bothers you if it's that important.
It's, erm,
"interesting" that you consider an amusing first-hand anecdote to be mean anybody was duped; notwithstanding, the above-quoted Florida statute (law, for anyone not familiar with big words) proves that nobody is making up rules.

I think you got your law degree the same place you look for fitness establishments.
I think you'll have a hard time convincing anyone that this is illegal. And people ask me why I find some of the Disers humorous! haha!
{... scrolling back...} Nope, don't see anybody claiming to have any law degree; in fact, I only see so-called 'quotes' of some invisible post. As for some posters being humorous... I find hypercritical posters hilarious, so I'm sure nobody will mind if I laugh AT the poster I quoted here...

A notice of termination must specifically state the agreement that is being terminated. The new policy of "length of stay" does not invalidate previously purchased "lifetime" mugs. In order for the termination clause to applicable, Disney would need to issue a formal notice specifically stating that mugs previously sold under the "free refills for life" policy would no longer be honored.
Well, but which is stronger - hearsay (people in the past being verbally informed that the mugs are good for a lifetime - which lifetime, by the way: the Guest's, the resorts {making Dixie Landings mugs entirely invalid}, the mug's, the vacation's?) or written policy?

Who cares.... really.
Personally, I could not be bothered with packing a mug to get free soda. I think it's petty and just not worth it.
But we all have our little "things" that we do don't we? Some get free soda, some shop lift, some cheat on their taxes, thier spouses, use expired coupons, wear something once then return it.....well you get the picture. The list goes on but the point is we are not perfect.
WHAT? Who's using expired coupons??? More to the point - what stores are ACCEPTING them??? I gotta go shopping...

And if you didn't care, as you state above, you wouldn't be classified as a Dis-board quoting, rulle following nerd.
Well, goodness gracious me - aren't
YOU just the sweetest, most polite thang...?

Oh my god...I didn't know things were so bad! Were you in on the secret loss prevention meetings at Disney? Is this how you received the stats that say rule following is way down from 98%?
You sound a bit too desparate to prove your point. Do you have proof that this is as huge a dilemma as you say?
Not sure where you're getting these so-called "quotes", but it's interesting that some people apparently confuse ethics and desperation...

To an earlier poster--you're right. I AM a Disney Nazi. I need a support group...
Um, no. What considers itself the "normal" world needs a support group for dealing with us. We're right, they're wrong :::grin:::

Haha - the survivor and Da vinci references are just literary fluff. No one was accusing you of being a conspiracy theorist. You said tax evasion...I think Richard what ever his name is.
You DO know there's a whole world out there, beyond the television, right? That the Survivor guy was far from the first, surely not the last, and most definitely not the biggest tax evader? Honest - they have these things called newspapers, and news shows, and even that Internet doohickie whatchamacallit that report about NON-reality show contestant lawbreakers.

Now now, name calling? If "bitter" is a name? Bitter about people posting fictional policies?
It's an adjective enhancing the word individual - not 'name-calling'. And the POSTED policy IS that refillable mugs are valid for the lifetime of the vacation during which they are purchased, at the resort at which they are purchased (with some 'sister-resort' exceptions). It's in writing on the mug and on signs in the areas where said mugs are available for purchase.
