Also, I have had luck finishing carnitas (pork roast) and ribs in the oven after they have been in the crock pot to get that crispy/brown taste.

UPDATE! Ended up returning my Christmas Crock Pot. Just did not like it and the lid was so cheaply made. Anyway, I bought an Instant Pot Pressure cooker instead and WOWZA! Everyone must have one of these!!! It's amazing!! Made boneless chicken breast that was so juicy and flavorful in 8 minutes. I also made the most delicious bean soup with dry beans in only 30 minutes and 6 minute mac n cheese. This is a must have appliance! The cool thing too is it also has a slow cook setting, it's a win win!
