I am a believer...Owner's Locker is a must

John, you are wrong.....We DO NEED our Owner's Locker!!!:thumbsup2

Exactly. And while DW and I are excited to take the family out to enjoy VGC this Christmas... neither of us are looking forward to the vast emptiness that that trip will have since we won't have our lockers!! We'll have to :scared1: bring it all with us if we want it.

At least, in consolation, that trip is much shorter and we won't need all of the same stuff we need in Florida. And what we don't have we'll just snatch from my IL's to bring with us since we'll be staying with them first. But it still won't be the same...

I'm a slow learner these days. Can someone clarify.

In addition to the one time fee. Is it $99 annually (standard) which includes 1 delivery/pickup per year, each additional delivery/pickup is additional $25.

And, another questions.... Is there anyway to have some supplies delivered to the locker, therefor having the locker delivered for the very first time with supplies we need already in it?

Thanks for any help.

I just arrived today to BCV and picked up my OL for the very first time. Of course when I first went to claim my locker a rather young and new CM looked at me with a quisical look and said "a purple what???" but naturally a more experienced CM said of course let me take you to get it.

So as we were walking back to the villa my DS was carrying "this purple box" (it took him a minute to grasp the concept but he did and thinks its great) when I was stopped and asked what "that purple box was". So naturally I babble on and on how I think it appears to be better than slice bread even though I haven't even broken the lock for the first time yet and how this locker will follow us pre and post cruise to the different resorts when the woman turns to her husband and says " that sounds great I wondered what they were I think we should get one"....

So, my OL buddies, I did my sales pitch for the day:rotfl:

There are so many CMs and with the turnover they have it takes a while for the word to spread on something like OL. On our 2009 trip I had to explain to several CMs about OL and that there would be one waiting for us. When we went in Feb of this year, they were fully aware of what we were talking about and most accomodating.

Good job on the plug to other guests for OL. It really is a great idea.:earsboy:

First, let me say that Owner's Locker isn't for everyone.

Second, I'll point out that no one really NEEDS Owner's Locker...you've been coming to Orlando lots without it and have gotten along just fine...and you can continue to do so.

We have lots of Members who drive and lots for whom luggage fees isn't an issue. Yes, you can look as Owner's Locker as a way to save money. But far more important is what having your vacation stuff here where it belongs does to your state of mind and your ability to have an enjoyable time while you're here.

Owner's Locker lifts that invisible burden that comes with a vacation...thinking of the things you need, getting it all together, worrying that you have forgotten something and of course packing it or running to the store when you get here.

It also allows you to keep things here that you'd never haul back and forth-- like a water filter pitcher so you don't have to buy tons of bottled water or a Kuerig coffee maker (the current hot item we hear people are storing in their Locker) and some neat mugs, a wireless access point so you don't have to deal with the ethernet cable or a spare laptop.

Let me share a couple of stories.

Several of our Members tell us that they keep a journal in their Locker and the write a few pages at the end of each trip about their favorite experiences. When they come back, the go over that list and it really sets the stage for their visit.

We also hear that many parents wrap up small gifts for their kids to open on their next trip and put them at the top of their Locker before they seal it up at the end of their vacation.

One of my favorite stories is from a couple who drive and have plenty of room to bring whatever they need.

They keep a bottle of champagne in their Locker and pop it in the freezer when they arrive.

Once they're unpacked and have moved in, the champagne is chilled and they get the two glasses from their wedding that they keep in their Locker and enjoy the champagne on their balcony.

Now, you can't look at these things in terms of cost savings. in some folks' eyes, they are completely unnecessary...in others they are priceless.

I'd suggest you consider giving Owner's Locker a try. We wouldn't offer a complete risk-free trial (where we refund every penny if you change your mind) if we weren't sure you'd like it once you've tried it!

Good stuff John. I've remarked before that opening your OL is kind of like unpacking the Christmas decorations. It's stuff you haven't seen for a while and it gives you a good feeling to have your things there in your resort. We've even bought some t-shirts at WDW, packed them away in the OL without wearing them and totally forgot about them until we crack it open.
It's like surprising yourself with a present!:earsboy:

Welcome aboard! We visit 2 or 3 times per year and it really works for us.

That reminds me - when my girlfriends and I pulled up to AKV to check in, a valet opened the door for us, saw my name on the temporary parking permit the guard had given us, and said "oh, you have a couple of Owner's Lockers here already." Not only did he know what they were, he remembered my name and connected the dots. That was impressive. :)

Another huge OL fan here! I don't know how I survived WDW trips without them.

I just bought all of my random toiletries and stuff for my OL (including a griddle to cook pancakes on!!).

Going down next week for my first DVC stay and leaving all of my stuff there in my locker - I am so excited. I can't even conceptualize that it's all going to fit, but you guys have given me hope....I'm pretty good at using every available space and I think I may need to! Whew it's easy to get carried away!

So excited to be a part of the OL club!

Has anyone used their locker during a quick weekend, sit by the pool, no parks trip?

Sure. It's great to have your favorite adult beverage waiting in your locker (lockers are stored in climate controlled facility). We have some clothes stored in our lockers so we would only need to bring one carry on for the 2 of us if it was summer. I don't expect that we will ever do just a weekend because airfare is too costly for it to be worthwhile, but our lockers would make it very convenient.

We got our OL on our last trip in October. It had taken me about a year to pursuade DH we needed one, but when we got it, and filled it up he was convinced.
I didn't think I would see my locker again until December 2011 for my next trip, as we live in the UK and airfare is ridiculous if you are being charged for 2 teenage children as adults.
Well, fast forward to the 25th of March this year, when I get a phone call telling me that my aunt, my mums' only surviving sister, has died suddenly. She died on the Wednesday, and we needed to be in Titusville for the funeral on the Sunday morning. I used my points to get the last room on property at SSR, for the week, which turned out to be spring break, which we don't have in the UK. We weren't doing any parks, but I did have my locker, which actually made the week a whole lot more bearable. We didn't have to remember any of the holiday type things before hand, when we were just concentrating on getting new passports, finding flights, and trying not to breakdown. It was something that allowed me to help my mum to cope, and also, by the end of a week of sunshine and family, get her smiling and actually looking forward to possible future Florida visits without her sister.

John and or Brian, lol, was great, as understandably I didn't give a lot of notice for this vist, nor did I even remember to turn my lockers card around to say that we were checking out, after 3 hours of wrestling with suitcases and relatives on the day of departure!

Definitely. DW & I took a no-parks anniversary getaway to the WL in March. Our lockers were right there with us.

Thanks for the advice, but alas, our quick, no park trip is off:headache:
But in the future if we do go for just a couple of days,I will have locker:thumbsup2

After reading this, I'm SERIOUSLY considering a locker! My husband is dead set against the expense involved, but I'm the one that plans and packs EVERYTHING - I may have to over-rule him. :rotfl:

Question that I can't quite find an answer for on their site:
Does your first trip count as your 1 included trip for the first year?

Here's our scenario - we're going for:
* 11 days in December 2010 (would be the trip where we FIRST got our new locker),
* then a 5 day trip in Feb 2011 and
* an 8 day trip in Sept/Oct 2011.

If we get the DIS special, with 2 free trips for the year, I'm trying to figure out if that would mean we'd get Feb AND Sept/Oct BOTH free/included, or if we'd have to pay the $25 for the Sept/Oct, and our next 2 OL visits would start over in December? :confused3

I'm 99% sure your first visit counts as one of the free ones.

I'm not sure - we'd have to have John clarify, but I'm pretty sure the initial delivery and pick up are included in the one-time membership fee. The standard annual plan for $99 includes 1 free visit on top of that initial one. The DIS discount includes an extra free visit.

ETA: I'm pretty sure this is right, because your plan "anniversary" date begins the day the locker is returned to the warehouse after the initial delivery. So any free visits included in the plan year are counted from that day going forward.

I called today and asked the exact question that's being debated! I talked to Brian who told me the first visit is in fact included with the membership fee, so ont he DISboards special I still have 2 free vacations in my first year!

Forgive me if this is a silly question but I'm still confused.....So does your anniversary date stay the same then every year?
