I held out forever, and finally decided with the cost of checking a bag, it was best to get an Owner's Locker...my word that thing holds EVERYTHING. All of our cosmetics, hair care, personal care, laundry soap, mugs, hats, crocks, even a small stool so the kids can reach the sink, a sewing kit, soap, sunscreen, diaper cream, swim diapers and more. I love it. And I make sure I update my record of what's in it each trip. I don't know how I lived without it...now I am going to try to squeeze in a fitted king size sheet on my next trip. What a great idea these guys had...wish I had thought of it. Service is great...they delivered to SOG for me, we took it with us in the car to SSR when we transferred, and then they picked it up safely at SSR. I know I was dead set against having to pay $100 plus for this, but it is worth every penny and more.

Forgot to mention that I did get a big discount on the initial cost from a website, and then did the $76 or whatever for unlimited visits...we go 4 or 5 times a year, so it is a good deal. Love my purple box!

It just spoils us for other vacations -- wish I had my purple box camping in NH!

The customer service is the best. My son and his girlfriend had the OL at SSR, returned 5/4, and we had it delivered 5/9 to AKV, transferred to GF, and picked up from there. The only sad thing is getting the text while we're at the airport that the OL is back safe and sound in the warehouse.

I'm still holding out. 100 dollars a year for one visit per year? I know lots of people love them, but I just don't get it. :confused3

I love it as well and I am a penny pincher. My favorite idea was to use google docs to store a list of what is in my locker by category in a spreadsheet. It's easier than the OL site to me. Then, I just highlight the items that need to be replaced before we leave each time and I know what to replenish. It also serves as a great packing list when we aren't at DVC. Man, I missed my Locker at GCV!!! Had to re-buy lots of items like ziplocs, sunscreen, shampoo, etc. The airline fees get higher and higher each time we travel, so no regrets about OL!

They definitely make sense if a) you fly on a carrier that charges all kinds of baggage fees, b) you normally lug a lot of stuff with you to make your vacation home more home like, c) you don't want to carry all of that stuff with you each time, d) you'd like to be able to bring a lot less each visit...possibly even just a carry on per person.

For me, I just look at it as $8 per month, per box, or one less meal out for lunch twice a month, or one family dinner at fastfood vs. a sit down restaurant to take care of b, c & d. We fly Southwest, so our bags are still free, (a) but we're definitely taking less and less each trip. It's a great feeling knowing that our stuff is already there, and will be ready and waiting for us when we check-in.

Like DVC, it's not for everyone...but it sure works great for us!!

I'm kind of on that fence too. It would be nice to not have to pack those items that I take every trip, but I haven't decided that it's worth $100..:confused3

I wasn't even on the fence since OL started...I was NO NO , I won't do it. I complained repeatedly about the short bottom sheets on the beds at DVC and someone said that's why they have OL...I kept saying NO, they need to fix the sheets...but in Feb when I had to go out and buy all kinds of hair products at walmart when I got there, and I was always leaving behind our laundry soap, dragging the mugs back and forth...I gave in and got one. It wasn't a huge expense with the discount on one of the websites. When I realized how much stuff I could actually get into it...WOW, and now I don't need an extensive packing list each time we go to WDW...just my clothes. I never thought I would like it, but it really is wonderful. Oh, I also left the rain ponchos in it too and my Disney umbrealla.

I too was on the fence and we will see by Feb. I got my OL this month and have a trip planned in Dec and Feb. I booked Delta for the 1st time in a long time for Dec and found out the bag fee is 23 - 25.00 per bag each way.(1/2 cost of OL) My DH and I will not have to check luggage for this trip since we are staying 5 nights and have all our tolietries in the OL along with night shirt, sweat shirt, slippers, absolute, advil (for the night after the absolute lol), sun screen, laundry detergent, soft sided cooler, ect...... I think I will get used to this. We usually bring 5 checked bags in Feb with the DD (3 all teens) and I really think we will be able to condence to 3 checked bags knowing we have laundry in the room.

We love our Owner's Locker. We may not go back to Disney now for another 2 years, and I am still not sorry I have it (of course we did use it 6 times in the first 2 years), but when we do go back, I am going to be so happy to have our "stuff"!

I couldn't live without mine. Once you have one, it makes packing for other destinations feel really complicated.

We love our OL :goodvibes Had it for the first time last trip and for the first time ever we didn't go home with an extra case and all our bags were lighter!

Can't wait to come back to use it again!

I do understand the convenience of having it, and maybe I'm so against it because currently it is only my wife and I that travel, so 2 suitcases pretty much cover us each trip. Maybe I'd be more open to it if we had to pack 4+ bags.

DH and I pack for only the 2 of us and we have 2 lockers, considering a third. What a relief to just walk off the plane and go straight to rental car. Coming home we don't need to worry about using an airline that does luggage check-in at the resort because we have no luggage to check!
Lockers are a tie to WDW that encourages more visits. I am surprised Disney didn't start this themselves, but I am glad they didn't because they could never do the job that John and Brian do. John and Brian should be getting some marketing fees from Disney.

I hear ya, but at the same time, given all of the various restrictions on the airlines for carry-ons, etc. - I can take just a carry on with clothes and still have a great visit, since we each have our own toiletries there already in ours. No worrying checking a bag because this that or some other item exceeds the 3 oz limit and must be checked or turned over to TSA. We love them whether it's a whole family trip, or just an getaway. We were there in January, entire family, with my folks, and it was awesome. We were able to utilize many of the convenience & home-like items to really enhance our stay (games, extra cooking stuff not provided by DVC, etc, etc). Then in March just DW and I went down and stayed for our anniversary - two carry-ons only. Next week I'll be down there on business with an add-on stay following the work trip, and I'll be carry-on only once more since I can get by with the hotel provided toiletries while on the work part - but then, woo hoo, my regular stuff will be there waiting for me upon check-in.

It's really a personal choice/decision and I totally get that. Just like DVC itself, OL is not for everyone. Like other posters, I find it to be a valuable service, and if you gave it a try, I'd bet that you guys would too - but if not, that's why John & Brian offer a money back guarantee. At first my DW didn't think it would be all that great. Then low and behold, wow, she was just as impressed as me and suddenly we had to have a second box. She's even been talking about a third box so that she and I can start leaving vacation clothes there in addition to all of the other stuff we already have in #'s 1 and 2 - and be able to just walk onto the plane with a book to read in flight and her purse. Only time will tell if that actually happens or not, but as others have said, it's awesome to be able to go on vacation and take very little with you.

For us, taking less stuff is a big deal. There are 3 of us - DH, DS8 and me - and just taking things I feel are necessary for a Disney trip, like an extra pair of shoes so we can switch out takes up a lot of space. (And usually we're packing 2 pair of shoes each because we're traveling from cold NY to warm FL, so the shoes we wear when we leave home are not appropriate for park touring.) Then if I want to keep up my running, I have to pack running shoes, which I absolutely cannot wear in the parks. Then there's the stuff that we ONLY use at Disney, like lanyards and pins (which take up little space but man, they're heavy), mist fans (who wants to keep repurchasing those at $15-$20 a pop in the parks?), ponchos. Never mind all the toiletries that, if packed, would force us into checking luggage.

Then there are things we absolutely would otherwise buy because we're in a villa - like laundry detergent. It gets frustrating when you always have to throw out half of the smallest bottle you could find at Publix. The same with bleach that I use to clean out the jacuzzi. (I'm sensitive to the bubbles and stuff people sometimes use in those tubs.)

So Owner's Locker lets us keep some of that stuff down there, including extra clothes AND stuff we'd never otherwise pack, like a coffee grinder, a Brita pitcher and filter (I hate, loathe and despise being dependent on bottled water, which is my environmental pet peeve), etc.

But the stuff is only part of the reason it's worth it. In our family, I am the packer. I'm the one who would put all the Disney stuff (ponchos, Pal Mickey, pins, Hidden Mickey book, mist fans, etc) in one spot and then drag it out for each trip. I'm the one who would have to put together all the toiletries, clothes, shoes. Multiply that x2 for our average 2 trips per year, then factor in that all that stuff has to be unpacked and all the Disney-specific gear stowed in its "home." I work outside the home at a very demanding job that already has me traveling around the world and packing and unpacking a suitcase all the time. Frankly, my time is WAY more valuable to me than what we pay for our Lockers every year. Yes, multiple, as in we have 2 very full ones now and a third Locker being delivered on my next vacation. I spend so much less time packing because of our Lockers AND we can travel carry-on when we want to. (My son still uses a booster seat, so we often check that anyway.) We usually fly Southwest, so checking bags is not an issue, but not having to wait at baggage claim or not having to spend time in line at the airport ticket counter is a great thing.

Owner's Locker is certainly not a necessity like food and water. And it's probably not for every person. At first I didn't even think it was for me, and my husband certainly thought I was crazy. But if I had a nickel for every time he said "Hey, do we have ____ in our Lockers? We should add it if we don't." The other day in Target, my son and I were walking down an aisle when he stopped, said "wait a second" and turned around to go get something we'd already passed. It was a water bottle with a neat flip up lid. He said, "Can we take this to Florida and put it in our Owner's Locker?" They're as crazy about them as I am! And as DVC owners, as our trips become more relaxed and less park-centric or less about commando-style touring, we're spending more time in our room. Being comfortable there is more important than ever before. I  LOVE  that I can keep a lightweight fleece throw (purchased in MK as one of those "purchase with a purchase" deals in 2008) so the air conditioning the rest of my family loves doesn't chill me to the bone. I LOVE that we can keep a scrapbook where we record each of our trips - what a wonderful keepsake that will always be! I LOVE that I never again have to remember to pack phone chargers or rechargeable batteries.

And I haven't even talked about the wonderful customer service! It really can't be beat. Brian and John have built this amazing little company that is truly customer focused and they are really good people. The reason I know this is true beyond my own interactions with them is that I actually talk to bell services people - they have nothing but glowing things to say about Owner's Locker. And it could be VERY different because adding those Lockers to their work every day could have had elicited a very different response and attitude. But John and Brian have worked hard to include bell services in their work - taking their suggestions about drop off and pick up processes, labeling tips, etc. And they treat bell services staff like partners - they could do all the great work in the world, but if bell services didn't care for people's lockers, the result would be a lot of unhappy customers. All this adds up to me having a TON of respect for them as a company aside from all the personal value I gain from using their service.

I know exactly what you mean!! We used ours for 3 trips last year and OMG what a joy packing was (I'm like Tara - THE family packer for everybody)!! Carry-ons only for a 6 night stay in March!! :rotfl: The CM at the desk when we checked in was like "where's your luggage?" :rotfl2: I said this is it!! He said he RARELY sees that for a trip longer than just a weekend... I just beamed over our Owners Locker!! But we also don't currently have any more trips planned to FL but I am still glad we have our locker. We're going to HHI in August and going on a Europe / MED cruise vacation in 2011. I would LOVE to be able to slip in a trip in though. We'll see. Not sure if I can hold out or not...the plan was to save money for Europe by not buying new AP's again.:rolleyes1 ANYWAY...LOVE our locker!! I will miss it this summer for HHI and for our MED trip next year!! It WOULD be nice to be able to rollover unused visits into the next year though. Oh well... I like knowing our stuff is waiting on us when we arrive!!

I'm assuming you use your carry on for medications, travel documents, and cameras....items you wouldn't store in an owners locker. Where do you put all your clothes??? Even with an owners locker I can't see how you could travel for six days in a carry-on.

it really isn't hard, especially if it's warm weather clothing, which takes less space. None of the items you mention take up much space at all?? And for us, we all have at least 1 outfit stored and plenty of underwear and socks stored. Combine that with the fact that we can do laundry in room to stretch the use we get out of what we pack and going carry-on is easy.

We are empty nesters, and we have 2 OL's. I was the big holdout in our family, being Queen of Frugal, I just couldn't justify the cost but am I ever glad I decided to take the plunge and try it. I figured with the money back guarantee, I couldn't go wrong.

Now, I can't imagine not having our Owners Lockers! In addition to all the usual toiletries, ponchos, first aid supplies, etc.; I also keep framed photo's of our kids and grandkids, a brita filter, feather pillow, plan on taking our Mini Keurig to add on the next trip. Our second locker is our office in a box.:goodvibesWe go for 3 weeks at a time and we work half days while there so it's invaluable to us. We keep flat screen monitors, regular keyboards, a printer and various cords in that one.

Oh, yes and like others have said, there is not better service anywhere. :goodvibes
