I always wondered....LOL

What do you do or what are you thinking when you say LOL online? Do you actually laugh out loud? do you just smile? do you kind of chuckle? do you just say it for a filler?


my boyfriend uses it all the time and he says when he writes lol it means he is smiling and maybe just a little laugh. so I was wondering why everyone else writes LOL.

I say "lol" when I mean something lightheatedly or in a good voice. I say "lol" so people know I don't mean what I say to sound mean. Since online can be a widely interpreted medium.

When I say "LOL" I'm either smiling or laughing a little.

"rofl" is the same to me as "lol" and "ROFL" is when I am actually laughing. Same with "LMAO".

If I actually laugh, I use LOL!! or LOL!. Just change it to caps and use an exclamation mark.
