I already have my dining reservations - can I add the Dining plan?

I booked a MYW package (room&tickets). I made the dining reservations I want. Looks like it will be worth my while to purchase the Dining Package, and I see the option to do that as a "change" to my reservation in My Disney Experience. I assume if I just go ahead and add the dining package now, it will cover the dining reservations I already have? No additional steps needed?

The dinning reservations you have are not tied to your package in any ways. Changing your package will not affect the reservations. If you prepaid for anything (Hoop Dee Doo, Cinderella's Royal Table, The Lua, etc) just let them know when you arrive and they will refund the cost and apply the dinning plan credits.

The dinning plan is kind of like buying a gift card. It doesn't affect your reservations because you don't use the credits until you actually arrive at the establishment and pay for your meal.

For a normal resort reservation, you can add a dining plan up to 3 days before check-in. 2 days for DVC stays.

However, while they usually waive change fees for adding more to a resort package, there's a last-minute change fee that isn't always waived, so I'd recommend making and DDP add-on at least a week before check-in.

Ive had no problem. Adding the dining plan after my room only reservation was made. They have even made it easier for season pass holders so that tickets are no longer necessary to purchase the dining plan. They did require me to pay the bill in full when I added the dining plan tho since it converts it to a package instead of room only and I did so less than 45 days out.
