They look at me with that quizical look. Some are even brazen enough to ask how I can afford it. Well, I'll tell you how.... I may be a single parent, but I still make an ok living. Do I have credit cards? Yep. Are there balances? Yep. Should I pay them off before having fun? Heck no. As long as *I* pay my own bills then it's really no one's biz what I do. :) I do have my own 'rules'...i.e. paying off the trip before we go... Heck, I don't even have to take time off work....I'm a nurse & I work 3 days a week. We self-schedule so I can work WDW around my schedule w/out much (if any) time off.

I also paid my car off last month (that's $300 more/month for Disney). I also am not a person that lots of clothing, makeup, etc. is important for. That saves ALOT of money.

Anyone else have this reaction from co-workers, aquaintences, etc?

Yes; we get the same reaction. But our WDW vacation is for our family and our family alone and that is all that matters. Have a super trip and ENJOY.

I get that alot too. My family is always asking how we can afford to go several times a year. I still won't tell them about all the great money saving info I have found here! It's our little secret, right? :rolleyes1

I get the same response ""Again!" Lol i just the the whole experience visiting the Mouse!

Just wanted to add that we get that a lot too. Our upcoming June trip will be our 5th in a row and our 9 trip to WDW. My mom finally stopped asking, "Don't you want to go somewhere else with the kids, like Washington?" Uh, NO!!! For us it is a magical place. Plus I look at it this way, my boys are small (8 & 6) they enjoy going and I am sure there may be a time in their teens when they won't want to vacation with mom & dad. We treasure every disney moment with them.

As for the money, please always say how we can afford to go. We use our income tax money. Plus at least we take our kids on vacation. We have a few friends that go on vacation themselves and leave the kids with grandma. To each their own. :)

Yup we get that too! But its okay, we just say the same thing when people say they are going to the ocean for a week in the summer....AGAIN??? :teeth:

My neighbors say that (they watch our house while we are gone) and ask my mom if she thinks I'm too old to be going (I'm 21) she said nope! We've tried to go every year since my dad died when I was 12 because that is the trip we would take with him every year. My mom is a single mom, but made a good living, this year the trip is on me because that $ I had saed up for grad school is no longer needed because I got a full scholarship!!! =)

OH yea!!!!!!!!!! My family/friends just doesnt understand what it is all about.

They have never been to WDW and they always ask "why dont yall go somewhere else"?? UH........CAUSE WE DONT WANT TO!!!!!!!!!

Now, these are the people who always go to VEGAS, BILOXI (mississippi), and PANAMA CITY BEACH everytime you turn around.

Uh........why dont they go somewhere else??????? :confused3

They always go to the same dern places all the time (to gamble mainly) and look at an ocean. BORING TO ME.......but if that is what floats there boat then so be it. They shouldnt knock me cause what I like.

And then the money issue always comes up. well look here, I have ROLLED ALL MY CHANGE for a resort deposit and I am counting EVERY SINGLE CENT and scrimping and saving and not eating out and going out on the weekends and watching what I spend so I can have my vacation without worrying!! And they dont pay my bills, so what should they care???????? Nosey nosey family members I have.....AT LEAST WHEN I GO TO WDW I AINT LOSING IT ON A CARD GAME OR SLOT MACHINES!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I get tired of it I tell ya, but I just learn to ignore it now. Those nay-sayers can kiss my booty!!!!!!!! :Pinkbounc
IM GOING TO DISNEYWORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She who laughs LAST laughs the LOUDEST!!!!!!!! :teeth: :teeth:

Hear it all the time. Why do you want to go there again? Because it's magical and there is something for everyone! I don't want to have that "I wish we did more" when the kids are out of the house. We have 14 & 12...before you know it, they'll be gone! Enjoy today, tomorrow is a glimmer! Magical vacations everyone!

You'll always have people that will look at you like you're nuts for going to Disney so much (Lord knows my family thinks I'm insane as much as we go) but each time we start talking about going somewhere for vacation, the only place that calls to us is Disney. (of course, I would like to venture out and try a 7 night DISNEY CRUISE sometime soon!!! )

Have a great trip!!!

28 days until ANOTHER trip to Disney!!!! :hourglass

Kandee - Congratulations on the scholarship! I know your mama is proud! :cool1:

And so sweet of you to pay for the trip! She sure did a good job with you.

What a nice daughter you are. Congratulations to your Mom for a 'job well done'. My DD is 22 and we love going to WDW. Have a great trip.

I hear ya on this one!! All my non-Disney friends & family can't understand why I would want to go back so often. Of course, I used to think the same way about my aunt & uncle who are DVC members...but now I get it!

We're young, we do have balances on our credit cards, my husband is in seminary so we use money for that, we have his college debt to pay off...things are tight. But it doesn't mean we forfeit well needed time away just for each other. WDW is our getaway. For us, this is a stress-reliever and a time to enjoy each other and have fun for just a little while. In fact, I've read several times in studies that people are happier and marriages are stronger when they take the time to get away at least once a year. So we make sure we do that...and you know what? Those studies are 100% correct.

Yes we get it all the time. This is only our 5th visit and the minute we started talking about it the eyes started rolling. We usually talk about it when no one else is around. This is our 1st trip with the little man so you would think everyone would be happy for us. But we get the " Really, why do you want to go there again? You've already been there?" Sometimes I feel like I have to make excuses and this time my reply is "its time to take my little man!!!!" Its what we like to do. You do your thing and we will do ours ( is what I really want to say) ::MickeyMo

:sunny: Yes we;DD8, DS13, DW, get this all the time as well, this summer (July 4th- 13th ) will be our 12th trip in a row :earseek: , When our friends ask about summer plans they say “ well I guess you will be going to WDW again?” :confused3 and I say YES we are :rotfl2: , well where else can you get soooo much entertainment , food choices and magical memories for your money and for all ages. One can spend more $$ a day at a local fair than in WDW :teacher: . And last year we did tell our friends that we were Not going to WDW... we are going to DL in California (LOL) :rotfl: well it is a different location . THEY just don’t get it and .... they don’t have to. :cool1:

Yes, I got quite a frosty response from my husband's aunt the other day. We are going in January 06 with them but are also going this month, September (to Disneyland) and October. Then she grilled DH about it, guess she thought maybe her disapproval would have more weight with him. Of course it didn't but he did down a couple of cocktails while he listened to her 20 question routine (she also is opposed to drinking lol). It hacked me off for about 10 seconds then I just got back to all of my planning which was what I was doing when she called! As DH said, when we ask to borrow money to pay for our trips then people can give us their two cents! We actually hadn't told the old gal knowing she would have a heart attack but my 8 year old told her when asked about what she was doing, "oh just figuring out stuff for our Disney trips!" I think it all boils down to you either get it or you don't!

I can't think of a better place to go! I love going there, and my dh is a trooper, he in fact is planning to attend a conference in Orlando in October for work... and I guess my dd and I will have to go to WDW when he is already there in Orlando! That would put us at four trips in a year and a half! :earsboy:

We get that all the time too. "Disney - AGAIN!". I don't understand why it's not a big deal for those people that go to the beach every summer, nobody thinks that's wierd. The other thing we get is when we go in the summer we usually go for 2 weeks at a time. People say things like, "what will you do for two weeks?". Uh, well - lots of really fun things!! :teeth:
