We are driving down from the Triangle area in NC but can't leave until after lunch, so we are going to probably be stopping somewhere in southern GA or at the Jacksonville Airport exit. The next day's trip then should be only 3-4 hours.

Anyone have any advice on where is better to stay, southern GA or northern Fl? We are currently booked at the Fairfield at the Jacksonville airport exit. If you have stayed there or have any comments on it or the area, I would appreciate it.

Also, how long does this trip usually take from Raleigh? I have heard anywhere from 9 to 12 hours total.

Hello, neighbor! Total trip time should be in the 9-10 hr range provided you run into no big construction delays.

I have friends that drive down once a year or so. If they stop, they usually stop in Brunswick, GA. That's about 2/3 of the way. Don't know which hotels they stay at, though.

My sis and I are headed down 5/21, and we will stop around Hardeeville, SC or Savannah, GA. I've got to stop in Lumberton and pick her up, so we probably won't hit the road until around 6 PM. So we won't be able to make it as far as you.

There's another thread w/ a link to a website that shows the hotels at each exit. It's something like usastar.com .

We're also driving from the Triangle and plan on staying in Jacksonville. We have a length of stay pass @ Disney and want to get to the parks as early as possible our first day.

I'm expecting an 8 hour drive to Jacksonville. We're staying @ a Comfort Suites in the Baymeadows area.

On our last two trips we stayed in Savannah, GA and Brunswick, Ga. Brunswick has a Fairfield Inn and I remember thinking that it looked nice and very convenient to the I-95.

This may be subject to change, but my friend who lives in Jacksonville told me that the airport area is not the best part of town??? I originally considered a newer Comfort Suites near the Airport. The Baymeadows area is more business oriented and nicer I'm told.

I also read a couple of positive post about a Comfort Suites in St. Augustine, Fl in the Golf World Area.

The web site for I- 95 is www.usastar.com. Here you will find a list of hotels and restaurants at each exit.

Good luck!

No matter where you stay, Don't forget to stop and fill up your gas tanks in Georgia. Gas is much more expensive in Florida.

I usually stop at Kingsland which is just a few miles before the Florida line.

Thanks to everyone for your comments!

bamillen, how is the Kingsland exit? Do you have a hotel recommendation at that stop?

We drive down from NJ and always stop at exit 3 Kingsland GA there our several nice places to stay, we like the Country Inn & Suites, also gas up there, it's the cheapest you will see till your return drive!! There are several resturants and fast food joints also, this is a good area to spend the night and WDW is about 3 hours away if you don't hit traffic!
