We are traveling south on I-95 in Florida to get to Orlando. Looking at the map I see that I-95 goes straight through Jacksonville. Which route is faster, going straight through Jacksonville on I-95, or taking the I-295 bypass? I think that we have gone both ways, but I don't remember which one is faster. We will be traveling south through Jacksonville on a Sunday morning in June, and also returning north through Jacksonville the next Saturday evening.

On Sunday morning I-95 ought to be tolerable. Saturday evening might be a different story.
I hate I-95 thru Jacksonville!! Reminds me of another horrible road--the Jones falls Expressway into Baltimore. We always used to hit it on the way down at 9:00 or so on Sdaturday morning. Even then it's jammed with cars, many of whom have no tolerance for out-of state drivers just trying to find the correct lane to get into.
These days, we always take I-295 bypass. It is a bit longer, but not by a whole lot. And it is much easier on the nerves.
PS-we also take I-295 around Richmond Va.--same reason
