I-95, driving through SC: controversial speed camera

Danibelle: 5 MPH over the limit is a bit strict, I think...would be hard to even notice w/o radar or a camera.

OKWMom:
If the speed limit there is 70, then folks doing 80 and above probably should get a ticket. And I'll bet "and above" is near 90 MPH in many cases.

5 miles over is the law in SC. But in reality, you usually won't be stopped until you are 10 over. But you can be stopped at 5 MPH over. I learned this the hard way.

I can't help but think of the girl that was killed on I-95 in SC a few years ago
this month on the way to WDW (her brother was one of my students). That was a drunk-driving case (the driver was going the wrong way) but fatals can happen with speeders too.

Other than the fact that this seems to be a state jurisdiction and not local, and I think that is a legal issue that needs to be resolved - I have no problems with the cameras. If you're speeding, expect to get a ticket. Don't be ticked off that technology allows authorities to do this without having a guy on the road. I don't see this as much different from areas where they issue a ticket when they've seen your EZ Pass hits the toll booths too quickly.

And we all know if someone was killed in a crash that involved speed, you'd hear people complaining that the area isn't enforced enough.
