How is the drive on a saturday? Any thoughts? We are planning on leaving southern NJ at 5:30AM...

Another post - I-95 Alternate Routes - is a whole discussion on how badly DC traffic is messed up right now. If you are travelling in the next couple of weekends, I would check it out. Basically there is construction on the Wilson Bridge and it is one lane in either direction from late Friday to very early Monday causing backups as long as 15 to 20 miles. Good luck.

Actually last weekend they thought the backups could be 15 miles, but every report I saw was talking less than 6 miles. It's still a pain. We avoid the bridge and 495 as much as possible. It's not every weekend. Last weekend was a planned closure for some work. Haven't heard anything about this weekend.

It'll be the usual mess--
Of course Saturday won't have a "rush" hour so that's a small plus...

went by DC going south on 95 3 sundays ago about 3 or 4 oclock PM thinking there would not be any traffic....WRONG...what a mess, must of been some sort of weekend traffic...avoid it if possible

I live in north Jersey and travel the 95 corridor often to visit our kids in northern Virginia. Although some days and times of the day are worse than others, there is NEVER an easy drive thru the Baltimore/DC area. When we are on a leisurely weekend trip, I prefer to take side roads and avoid the whole mess...but of course, that's much too time consuming for a drive to WDW from NJ. If we're going to FL - we fly - I will never make that long, tedious drive again.
