We're driving to WDW in 10 days, and our major road is I-95. Past trips down there have been major construction delays and detours. I was wondering if anyone has driven I-95 down (North Carolina-Florida) recently and noticed any major congestion from traffic due to construction or detours. I have looked at the I95 exit guide and they only note construction around LPGA blvd in FL, which I found hard to believe.

Thanks in advance

I just drove from about the middle of NC to Jacksonville, FL this past weekend and there was no major construction going on. :thumbsup2

Well that's amazing. Usually there is so much construction going on. We will hit I95 from I40 at Benson, NC. But we usually hit the orange barrels as soon as we hit Georgia.

There is no construction at LPGA.
That was a bridge to nowhere that they built last winter/spring with "stimulus" funds just south of LPGA. It's now complete (an no one uses it).

And Jacksonvile is done too! Who woulda' thought??? :rotfl:

I agree that we always expect the barrels in Georgia. We had them in June, it will be really nice if that's gone.

It will be Nirvana - no barrels in Georgia and no construction in Jacksonville?

Hey just wondering how long it takes you to drive from Raleigh?

We leave in 44 days :)...and live in North Durham. Our neighbor said 10 or 11 hours but I think they stop alot. My boss who lives in Hillsborough says he can make it in 8 hours...I know he speeds but I think he only does about 10 over which is what I do...Just seemed like a big difference between the 2 times.

Thanks

We live in Durham over off of Mineral Springs and Hwy 98. So it would be roughly the same. If you take I40 to I95 to I4 it should take about 10 1/2 hours (that's with stopping for gas). When i'm driving I go about 5 over. When we went down in April there was a speeding camera in Ridgeway, SC (right before the border of GA) so I would be VERY careful. They take pics of your plate and mail you tickets or they have officers that pull you over. This year it will take us about 11 hours only because we stop in Lumberton for Breakfast, and Lunch in Palm Coast Fl at Publix. We usually leave early in the morning to avoid Rush hour here, in Fayetteville and Jacksonville, FL. But since All Star Sports is 640 miles from home it roughly takes about 10-10 1/2 hours assuming you don't hit traffic.

The freeway camera in sc was finally outlawed and permanently removed. :cool1:

We can drive in 9 hours, that's with three short stops. (Four Oaks to WDW)

I just did the drive from Charleston last month and there was no construction to be seen. Everyone is correct...the orange cones are gone! However, they appeared to be replaced with cops with radar guns. We counted around ten cars tucked into the medians or ticketing between SC and entering Florida! It was a very busy day for them.

Eh, i'm used to it. Interstate 85 going into VA is always saturated with cops, state police, state troopers, sheriff. I've counted a good 23 or so on a drive up to VA beach. It's ridiculous. And i'm just loving the no cones thing. We leave in 5 days, and no construction will be a great start to our vacation.

Pretty sure you'll be catching the 95 farther north than the PP (coming from Chas you come out at exit 33). But north of the 95/26 interchange they are doing a big bridge renewal project, so you may see some cones and traffic there.

As for the tickets, I swear, SC, VA and GA are three worst states for balancing their budgets on them!!!
