Has anyone taken the I-81 from Prescott, Ontario? The route interchanges to I-95. Any info on the stretch would be fabulous as we are not finding much of anything. Thank you.

Many of us here in eastern Ontario have taken this route. Where are you planning on hooking up with I95? Depending on the time of year you go, this route can be a breeze, or a little bit tricky (lake effect snow from November through March, as well as the possibility of snow through NY and Pennsylvania). We've gone several times in October (returning in November) and have encountered a little snow a few times, but generally, nothing that slowed us down by more than an hour or so - we'll be taking the 81/95 again in October this year.

We would be traveling in summer. I don't know where is the best spot to interchange with I-95. Is there any resources for this? I can't seem to find anything. Using Google maps, I believe it says Arlington.

I would like more info on this route too. how long does it normally take? I am crazy to drive it with 2 kids under 5 yrs old? Is it too long in the Van??

We've done it from Brockville a few times now. The route we like best is I81 to I77, I26, I95. Sounds convoluted, but it has been the best route for us the last couple of times we drove through. We drive straight through to get there and then on the way home, we leave before 6:00 AM and spend 1 night in Chambersberg PA before getting home the second afternoon. I don't know of any websites that cover the whole route, but the site http://www.usastar.com/i95/homepage.htm is useful.

Cheers
John

Thanks for the info John. Will we really save big by driving vs flying? We're thinking of using a rental car to save us from any unexpected car troubles. Our vehicle is in good shape, she's rounding 160K Km. and I you just never know.

Driving down and back usually costs about $200 and one night motel around $100 with breakfast included. We're flying out of Syracuse on Thursday for about $700 USD.
