I-75 South GA to Orlando, cheapest GAS?

Yeah - after Ocala. Don't stop in the Gainesville area. Highest prices we've seen in a while.

Check the "non brand" gas stations like Love's. They are usually cheaper than the "brand" ones.

The stations just before the Florida border (exit 5) are a bit higher than the ones right in Valdosta.

Anyyone notice where the best gas prices were /w Tifton, GA and WDW?

The Wal-Mart in Tifton usually has the cheapest gas. It is not that far off of I-75. If you have a SAM's card, there member gas price is usually a lot cheaper than other stations. There is a SAM's club off of I-75 in Valdosta, around exit 16.

Out of the name brands RaceTrac seems to have the best $ prices for gas and that's based on what my family and I have seen when we have taken Interstate 75. I also know a thing like this could change and they might not have the best prices anymore.

We always stop in Valdosta and fill up before we cross over into Florida. The exit with the Starbucks (I can't remember the exit number) has a lot of gas stations and places to eat.

When we drove down, we found the cheapest gas at Exit 5. It was a Pilot Station and was $2.43/gallon, much cheaper than anywhere else. On our way back, we stopped there and it was $2.65, still cheaper ...

We went to gasbuddy to find the prices. I'll have to check out that other website that was listed.

ETA: It was a bit south of Valdosta. Lake (something-or-other, or Twin Lakes, etc. It had Lake in it) ...

I totally forgot about RaceTrac(and Pilot too for that matter). We actually end up at one of these over Love's, I believe.

Thanks so much for this post and information! We leave on June 6....from Illinois...I am so looking forward to getting out of this state....because the cost at the pump for us is higher than most of the states! :confused3

The Racetrac on exit 5 usually has a really good price on gas, and there are also several fast food places if you need to grab a bite. As someone else mentioned, do not fill up in Gainesville. They have very high local gas taxes... If you make it here to my town of Ocala, there is a gas station in the Sams club and a Raceway just off the interstate that usually has good prices as well.

Maybe Lake City? We always stop there overnight. Good to know they have cheaper gas.

It's Lake Park, Georgia. Lake City is about an hour south in Florida.

Exit 5 is where we always stop for the night on the way down. It's halfway for us. The exit does have the RaceTrac, Shell, Chevron and one other gas station. The fast food is McDonald's Burger King (inside the Chevron), Wendy's, Taco Bell, Hardee's, and Sonic (well, that's a drive in). There's also a Cracker Barrel and a Pizza Hut. Hotels are Super 8, Travelodge, and Days Inn plus a couple others. The Days Inn is the most expensive of those three, Travelodge is next but a better value and the Super 8 isn't that great and they run out of parking spaces.

Exits 16 and 18 in Valdosta will have every single thing you could ever want or need on a long drive.

While there are some great answers here, this is a thread that is a much better fit contextually, on our DIS Transportation Board !

So I'll be moving this over there.

Thanks!

Knox

I'm a full fledged member of the exit 5 club as well. It's is indeed "Lake Park". There is a Lake City adjacent to Morrow just south of Atlanta and another Lake City in Florida about an hour-ish south of the border. (Lake City, FL is a good super-walmart stop if you forgot anything or need road beers..kidding. Hang a left off the exit and it's half a mile or so down on the left...)
