Anyone seen the damage to the I-10 bridge over Escambia Bay (just east of Pensacola). The east bound lane is GONE. And the west bound lane looks like it is missing a few siderails here and there. Plus the water (in the picture I was looking at) was going over the top of some of the roadway.

Anyone know how the tunnel at Mobile and the bridge over Mobile Bay did in the storm?

Any other bad places on I-10/12 between Lafayette, LA and I-75?

I would love to hear to. We visit the gulf shores area a couple times a year. Sorry to hear about all the damage. We were actually planning on going there in two weeks. The footage of damage Ivan caused is amazing. Hope everyone is safe.

Just did Driving Directions from Pensacola to Milton. If 90 is open, you can take 90 from Pensacola and back over to I-10. It adds a few miles, but not as many as going through GA instead of I-10.

Update on roads/bridges from the Pensacola News Journal website:

Virtually every major bridge in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties has been closed indefinitely to all traffic, according to information from Florida Emergency Management and the Florida Highway Patrol. A quarter-mile section of eastbound Interstate 10 bridge over Escambia Bay connecting Santa Rosa and Escambia counties was missing; the westbound section of I-10 was damaged but still standing. A roughly 30-foot section is missing from Bob Sikes Bridge, which is the bridge from Gulf Breeze to Pensacola Beach. The Navarre Beach Causeway is closed because of damage. The Garcon Point Bridge and the Pensacola Bay Bridge were closed because of structural damage. The Lillian bridge on U.S. 98 at the Florida-Alabama state line is closed because of structural damage on Alabama side and flooding on Florida side. The U.S. 90 bridge over Escambia River, between Escambia and Santa Rosa counties, is closed because of hurricane debris. The Perdido Key Bridge on State Road 292 is closed because of flooding.

OK, according to the 800 number for Florida Dept. of Transportion to get from Mobile past Pensacola this is it:

65 east
East on 84
Hwy 55 east then 331 back to 10

Getting ready to map this, hopefully it'll work

She said they don't expect 90 in Escambia County to be back open for days. :(

We're going to try to bypass I-10 altogether on this trip and take I-20, head to Montgomery, take 82 out of Montgomery to GA and then pick up I-75. Of course, if they get the power back on in AL and GA, we'll do this. And if Jeanne and Karl don't cause any problems.
