Hypothetically - How likely am I to get a BWV or BCV Studio early August for 9 nights?

I've been researching DVC and am looking for a bit of information to help me.

We have a family of five (hence my user name :) ) and LOVE the Boardwalk, Beach Club area of Disney. Our schedules pretty much limit us to summer months now, early June to early August. We typically visit for 8 or 9 nights. What are the odds that (if I had Boardwalk Villas or Beach Club Villas as my home resort) that I would be able to readily book a 9 nights stay in the summer right at the 11 month mark? For example, a 9 night Wednesday to (2nd) Friday August 1st - 10th 2018.

Thank you.

Dan

I’m hoping to get BWV in August at the 7 month mark.....wish me luck lol!

Even in busiest DVC months, it's not that hard to get a studio at 11 months at either resort so long as you don't have to have standard view BWV.

As noted, it shouldn't be difficult, even 7 months is workable even for standard BWV with planning. A 1 BR is even easier and I suspect you'll be there soon with 5. BWV or BCV are not very appealing for 5 in a studio, even more so than some of the other locations.

If you own one of them and are not hung up on BWV Stardnard you will be fine.

Even standard view at 11 months for June through early August is very likely. If you book when the window opens, you should be able to routinely get what you want at the BWV for that time period. I have no personal experience with BCV, but I would be very surprised if that is NOT the case for that resort as well. In fact, booking at 11 months for that time period should get you what you want virtually 100% of the time. The only exception would be Concierge at AKV

Even if you are hung up on BWV Standard, if you are making your reservation for early August, historically you'd be fine. However, Disney could put something in for "your week" which would drive demand. When we bought, we would go in early October - and Food and Wine wouldn't start until the next week. We'd have no problem booking a standard view at eleven months - but F&W got extended backwards to late September, and now the rooms I could get fairly easily are very difficult to get at eleven months. (and our kids got to the age where we started going during school breaks, and now are to the age where we leave them home).

First, thank you all! I'm guessing that the standard view BWV studio rooms are low availability mainly due to the low points required?

https://www.disboards.com/threads/p...tudios-some-1-bedrooms-prepared-2015.3419112/ I think you're worrying too much. August is not the DVC busy season.

That link is fantastic! Thank you skier_pete!!!

Do 1 bedrooms at both BWV and BCV accommodate 5 people? I see conflicting information on the web. I'm seeing only accommodations for 4 in 1 bedrooms at either resort?

Kindly,
Dan

My experience with BCV is that there is no time, even during DVC busy season like first two weeks of Dec, where BCV books out right at 11 months.

If you're there when the window opens, you can get whatever you want at BCV.

Honestly, 11 months is only a problem in a few very tight categories (VGF studios, AKV value, AKV concierge, BWV standard) at a few times of year (Fall Frenzy).

These are all rooms and times subject to walking a reservation due to their limited availability. Unless a significant number of people are walking, there should be availability at the start of the window.

The vast majority of DVC rooms are readily available at the 11 month window.

1BRs at BCV and BWV accommodate 5 but do not provide a bed, bedding or towels for the fifth.

Booking your home resort at 11 months will insure that you will get what you want unless the category of room has just a few units. That is why home resort is important. Sure you may have good luck booking somewhere else at 7 months but don't bank on it. Disney is constantly adding events, special promotions along with DVC which can change the booking patterns now and in the future.

I would rather have a King and pull out queen in the LR for 5 than a queen, pullout full and a pull down basically toddler bed. To me 5 gets you to a 2 BR pretty quickly.

Well, here's my specific case...

I am looking at DVC (rental or resale) as a potential method to get us into a resort in the Boardwalk area without adding significant cost versus our previous go-to resort, Port Orleans Riverside. We fit just fine in the Alligator Bayou rooms there that holds 5 (two queens and the flip down Murphy bed). The DVC studios are similar size (maybe slightly larger in sq ft), but we would lose the proper queen bed to be replaced with a full size pull out sofa. I think the kids would be just fine with that though. The Murphy bed is pretty much identical to POR, so that's a wash.

It's primarily about location: The look and the feel of the Boardwalk/Beach Club area and the proximity to Epcot and HS. Anything larger than a studio, and the cost of the room explodes upward and doesn't make sense for us.

I know the location isn't boardwalk -- but you could also stay at OKW and their studios do have two queen beds.

Correct -- there aren't that many of them to begin with and they take 33% less points than the other studios, so people love staying in them in order to extend their trips an extra day or two for "free."

And given your kids ages, you years of Disney with five people is probably coming to a close. In a year or three, you'll be down to four of you, in another five, three - and then it will be a couples thing. Make sure that for you its a couples thing - because you are too late in the kid lifecycle to be buying for the family.

My kids are 18 and 19 now. My son is in tech school, my daughter a dual enrollment high school/college student. Between sports, drama, jobs, school, friends - we haven't managed all of us together on vacation since my oldest was 14. And every thing they undertake is supposed to be "the most important." He lost interest, my daughter would love to go, but her schedule is insane - this year during our trip she will be in college, but when she has Spring Break, she'll be in Boston with youth group. Last year she was in London with school over Spring Break - and forget Summers with her. And next year she will be 800 miles away.

(When we go with our kids, we do get a two bedroom. But we are spoiled.)

The more I look into it, I think renting points might be a better option for us right now.
