Hypothetical question about free dining

We have visited Disney and recieved free dining while on our trips. It's been a little while since we've done it.

Since our last time, the options have changed meaning we can no longer get 1QS, 1CS, and 1TS for free with a value resort as we have done in the past. I get that change.

I just have a question about the booking process. Here's my hypothetical question...

Say we book for December 2nd and book for two weeks. If I don't get free dining, I don't know if I am going to add dining to the package at all. Should I

A) Book the resort res along with dining

B) Book the resort res alone

Also, if I book the both of them together and then free dining gets offered, do I just call and see if they can add it for free/adjust the existing res?

Are you going to put tickets on either way? If yes, I'd book a room and tickets and add FD or full price DP when the time comes. You can just call and they will add it to your reservation pending availability with the offer.

With the FD at values you CAN upgrade to the regular DDP and pay the difference in price of the two plans if you'd like.
