You are all set to start your week long Disney vacation when you get a call; All Disney property is closed.

I don't know, the dinosaurs escaped their cages and are eating the guests all over Disney World, the zombie population is out of control in Disneyland ever since they thawed Walt out, and Aulani is finding out it isn't good to anger the tiki gods. Anyway you got your money back and need to get away for the week. Since your bags are packed, where do you go?

if the end of the world has started, my plans have always been take over disney and make that my new home so I'm still going. I finally have my own castle!

I guess a lot would depend on where I could get flights to and at what cost. Assuming the airline would exchange our tickets for something of comparable cost (which wouldn't get us too far) I'd probably pick a place I've never been but is easy to do - something like St. Louis or Nasheville or something

Other thing might be going down to Washington DC or do Colonial Williamsburg (and check out Busch Gardens while there)

If I can't exchange the flights then we'd go to Orlando anyway and do Universal or Legoland or something

I'd probably keep Florida - the family loves beach time! But I'd roll in a day or two at Universal and LEGOLAND.

Depending on the time of year I'd do a week hiking, either the Alaskan back woods or Yellowstone. If it's too cold for that I'd drive A1A through the Florida Keys.

If zombies are loose and Dinosaurs are running rampant I'd probably not be going anywhere haha.

If it wasn't that bad just Disney weirdly shut all their operations for a week then I would probably go down to Boca as it would be easy or up to Toronto to visit a friend. Might even head home to Texas to see family but really depends on that moment.

This would depend on if it was all 3 of us or just DW and I.

If it was all 3 of us, we might just stay home. Maybe we'd do a couple of day trips.

If it was DW and I, there would be many more options. Maybe we'd go to Florida anyway and head to Tampa and Busch Gardens. Maybe we'd go to Atlanta or Charleston or St. Augustine or some other place we've always wanted to visit. Or we'd head north instead and do Montreal or Niagara Falls or Vermont or New Hampshire. Some of that decision would depend on the season.

I'm going to revise my answer (I know, I'm taking this way too seriously :) ). If it was truly a last minute change, bags packed, car loaded, we would not head to a destination that we had never been to. We're not uber planners but we do like to do our homework and research our destination in advance.

So we would opt for a place we've been before. Richmond, Niagara Falls, National Harbor, MD/D.C./Alexandria, VA area, or Boston would probably be the top choices.
