Hi All,
Any hypnotists out there?
Or anybody tried hypnosis to aid weight loss?

Love to hear from you,
lynn :3dglasses

Hi Lynn

our Diane tried it a few years ago. at first everything was going well but everytime she was feeling as though she might surcome, she would go back for another session. in the end cost a fortune, but have to admit that in theory it really did work.

H:)

I tried it last year and it was great, it really worked. The problem tho was that it was £65 a session and it was just too much money to go every week.

In the short-term it will work. However, if you have lots of weight to lose it is better to address the reason for the overeating. Otherwise once you lose the extra pounds you could just as easily all of back on.

Hi!
I was hoping the hypnotherapy may delve into the reason why I do!!As most overweight people,Ive spent my life losing 4 or 5 stones to put it all back on a year or so later.
I wanted to consider an extra approach to the exercise and eating...yes,I can see it would be expensive to keep going.
Wonder why they advertise they can stop smoking in one session, yet it can take alot more for weight control!?

Lynn :confused3

When I tried it it did look into the reasons why I put on weight, it was a real eye opener so I do think that it is effective. I think they advertise it as one session needed but when it comes down to it you need more to keep it up. If you can afford it I would give it a go.

the main problem with addictions like smoking versus addictions like eating too much is that you actually do need to eat to live, you don't need smoking or alcohol or drugs or most other addictive substances but food is an essential of life! therefore you can't be taught to just dismiss it completely, you need to learn to do it healthily and succesfully for the long term

Has anyone tried the Paul McKenna "Think yourself Slim" c.d. and books?

I've heard different stories about them, and was wondering if I should try it. I guess anything's worth a go !!

Ive tried them and the theory behind it is great, it makes a lot of sense, it takes ALOT of self-control to put it into practice however! I know someone tho that did manage to lose quite a lot of weight using it.

Ummmmmmm,I think I am going to have to give it a try as I have no motivation at the moment.Never know unless you try is my new motto!!

I think Id feel more comfty with a lady.Did you have a friend sit in with you?

Thanks All,
Lynn

I just went by myself, I think I would of felt embarrassed in front of a friend. Just make sure that you research the person you go to.

Firstly the addiction itself would be dealt with then work would start on the reason for the addiction.

No addiction would be dismissed completely.

I had hypnotherapy to build self confidence and then moved onto weight loss.

It was a blind man who was just starting so offered the sessions for free and his wife sat in on the sessions as she had to tap his arm when I closed my eyes, relaxed etc.

It was OK and I fell asleep at every session which amazed me as who would think you could sit in a room with 2 strangers and drift off?

In all honesty I don't think it really worked - I moved onto the weight loss sessions so he could practice.

However, i have tried the Paul McKenna tapes and to be honest just reading the book alone makes perfect sense. If you can stick to what he says you should never have a weight problem again but we're so "brain washed" to ignore our bodies that it really is hard to get back to basics.

I handle my children's eating habits differently than I would have had I not read his book. I never make them clean their plates and I never make them finish their main meal just so they can have pudding. I let them decide when they've had enough and when they're hungry. On easter day I gave them a chocolate egg and after a few mouthfuls they both handed them back and said they'd had enough and were full.....if only I could do this....which is the escence of Paul's book.

Good luck and I also think - try anything once......or twice if it was good! :rotfl:
