This may be a silly post to some, but we are traveling to Disney this spring with my sister's family. Last time we went my sister avoided the Living Seas because she was claustrophobic. I know that the kids would really like to experience the Living Seas. Is there a way to get to the aquarium area without using the hydrolators? My sister panics in elevators.

I'm pretty sure if you ask the CM stationed outside the hydrolaters, there is a door that bypasses them. :teleport: Can anyone verify this?

Incidently, they are not really elevators. They use lights and a floor that shakes to give the sensation of movement and sell the illusion of descending to an ocean floor seabase. In reality, is nothing more than an elaborate little hallway. (Bet the women who sued Disney because her ear drums were supposedly ruptured during the "quick and violent" descent to sea base Alpha wished she knew this.) Still easily claustrophobic, but this is how one could easily bypass it.

I don't remember the details, but the hydrolator can be avoided. What I do remember is my DSIL, who rode the hydrolator and got a claustrophobia attack  . It was awful. I felt so bad for her. :guilty: She said NEVER again!!!

I used to work there and yes you may avoid the hydrolators. Just ask the CM (if there is not one in the hydrolator area there will be one in the theater beside them) and you can bypass.

You still have to use the hydrolator, but one way to get in quicker is to wait at the place where the exit hydrolators are and get on as a group gets off. I wouldn't recommend this when it's busy though because I'm sure the CM's don't like people getting in unaccounted for.

There will still be at least a short moment when all the doors are closed while you are inside. If the exit hydrolator you got on was not the next to be loaded from the inside, the doors might be closed for a long time.
