What parking lot? The one on Disney property that is no longer there because they are building carsland or the one at the Alpine Inn?

Even after the parking lot was gone, they still had an opening in the fence next to Alpine Inn and a tram to take you to the Esplanade. It was open in September during the D23 Expo, but I'm not sure if it's still there.

I can check this weekend if we don't get an answer before then.

I think the gate circled in red is what the OP is talking about.

trekkie2, when I drove down Katella about two weeks ago, I looked for this opening/gate and didn't see it. It even looked like they planted trees where the opening used to be, as to possibly make the closure permanent. Just a guess, but the Carsland construction may have expanded out just enough to make the tram turnaround unusable.

I wouldnt recommend walking there now... if you go farther up, you will see tons of buses coming from Toy Story Lot. Its better if you walk out to harbor and up harbor...
